July 2018

Whilst this is a standard Club site with all the usual facilities, our holiday was ruined by constant dog barking. The number of dogs on this site was excessive. The van next to us brought five dogs that barked constantly and at the slightest provocation. Further along was another van with two dogs that barked constantly, the owners seeming to find this pleasurable. After speaking to the wardens we moved to a pitch at the other end of the site but two vans arrived shortly after, both with dogs that barked constantly. We also witnessed some dog owners allowing their dogs to urinate on vacant pitches instead of taking them off site. We reported all this to the Club but they don’t want to know. In response they said the Club tries to provide enjoyment for all but clearly it fails to do this by prioritising dogs enjoyment over humans. It has to be said that most dogs on the site were well behaved and quiet. It’s always the irresponsible few that spoil it for everyone. We will not be using this site again.

It's a shame you feel your holiday was spoilt in this way, LD,  but looking at your other reviews you don't seem to have a lot of luck seeking peaxe and quiet on (either) club's sites. Maybe you've just been unlucky because none of the other recent reviews mention a problem with dogs barking. As a dog owner myself I'm always aware of any possible nuisance - fortunately our dogs are placid and quiet - so we can be relaxed about it. I'm glad you acknowledge,  though, that the majority of dogs on site were quiet and well behaved.

Have you thought of trying CLs? They are likely to be quieter and the owners often more pro-active in addressing such issues.

Oh my goodness, I’ve just seen the OP's other 5 year old thread has been resurrected. That’s several sites they’ve had noise problems on and won’t be revisiting. Unlucky, or what?undecided

In reply to moulesy’s comments, you must be looking at a different web site to me as there are a number of reviews of the Sutton site mentioning problems with dogs. I only discovered this after I had posted my own review. It’s not the dogs fault, of course but rather the fault of those few irresponsible owners that fail to control their dogs. The majority of owners are more considerate.

Just looked back at the 20 most recent reviews on this very site LD. 3 other comments about dogs, one of which is quick to praise the warden for their prompt action in resolving an issue. Don't get me wrong, I have zero tolerance for owners who let their dogs bark/foul uncontrollably but unfortunately it happens, probably less on caravan sites than in general if the truth be known. I accept constant barking is irritating - we have a neighbour at home who, sadly, has such a dog. As I said, sorry you feel you had your holiday ruined, but my suggestion about CLs was one that we have found gives us a more enjoyable experience.  smile

These days with mobile phone being very technical it is easy to gather evidence of all issues to show the warden and to pass onto Head Office,

Thanks for the positive advice and yes, we will try a CL in the near future. On a final note, in their response to my comments, the Club did say that complaints about dogs barking are the largest in number of all complaints.
