VERY DISSAPPOINTED

Having checked the Clubs Late Availability and found over 60 pitches free we were most unhappy to be told that half of the site was out of bounds. This has happened on several previous occasions and we have had a variety of different explanations why this is the case. One of the great attractions to us, and to many others, of off season caravanning is to have the ability to pitch with a bit of space around the pitch . At Strathclyde Park there is no reason to close part of the site, all pitches are hard standing, the power and water are on, indeed we saw the warden cleaning the service point within the closed area. If the Club intends to persue this policy it would be only be reasonable to amend the Late Availabilty figures accordingly. i.e instead of 60 pitches the true number is 12. To do otherwise is dishonest.

Did you discuss this with the warden to find out the reason for the partial closure?

Maybe he was giving that service point its final clean of the year, maybe staffing levels are reduced in winter, maybe the number of bookings doesn’t warrant maintaining the whole site in winter etc etc.

There’s not a lot of point in complaining in a site review, tbh, especially if you don’t know the facts of the situation.

Any number of possible reasons, as TW says a simple question to the warden would have provided the answer. It is certainly not a company wide thing. A large site we visit only has a few vans mid week at this time of year. However, you can pick from any of the available hardstandings. It's just a long walk to the facilities from some, as one block is closed.
