Into The Road Works.

A lot of mid Scotland is simply road works currently with the M73, M74, M8 and A90 all being developed. However this site remains an ideal location for visiting the central Scotland belt and will be much better for that once all the current roadworks are completed. Coming from the South, we approached the site from J6 and drove through Strathclyde Park rather than attempting the Raith J5. After a friendly welcome from the wardens we pitched up in the only remaining serviced pitch - the club really need to recognise the demand for such serviced pitches. We were there for 8 nights first week of August and despite the roadworks on two sides, it was relatively peaceful apart from the few occasions when the noisy road sweeper cleaned the approach road. Facilities were immaculate and the Smooth radio piped stream in the toilet block effectively deterred those annoying off-key whistlers. The wifi was flaky with many 'server not found' and 'Wifi portal is not working' messages. The missing logout tab reappeared after two days only to keep disappearing and re-appearing and the logout command was unreliable. I was pleased to learn from a previous reviewer that the train service into Glasgow was so effective from Blantyre and with me not being an inveterate shopper, it was good to drop my wife and daughter there for a shopping trip into Glasgow, while I took the opportunity to cycle around the loch. Great paths to walk or cycle around but don't go onto the grass areas as I have never seen such pollution by dog owners. An enjoyable stay that will not be our last. It is a nicely maturing site having been just a basic council site only a short time ago, before the club took it over. It is ideally placed for visiting much of the central Scotland belt once all the roadworks are completed. This, our second stay will not be the last.
