Great site

Great site in a very useful location right next to motorway. Some road noise but not a major problem. Lovely area to explore with Strathclyde Lake on the doorstep and great for walking and cycling. Site facilities are excellent and both Wardens I spoke with (ladies) were brilliant. Been several times, great as a short stay for stopovers etc and a good base for Glasgow/Ayrshire etc. Good eating places nearby, would highly recommend.

Great for an overnight stop but

We use this site when travelling from home in Scotland to England.  It's a great location for a stopover - right next to the M74 - but that is where the problem lies.  The noise from the motorway and the A roads off the motorway junction is horrendous - it's constant throughout the day and night - so much so that we had to use ear buds to sleep.  Usual high standards of the Caravan Club but I really wouldn't want to spend more than a night here.

Visited March 2015

We used this site as an overnight stop on our way from North Staffs to Thurso ( and again on our return 5 days later ), where we went to enjoy the wonder of the eclipse.  We had never ventured this far north with the van before and its close proximity to the M74 made it a joy to use as an overnight stop.  However once on site you would hardly guess that a major trunk route was only a few minutes drive away, road noise is minimal.  Entry and exit are no problem and the facilities as ever are up to the excellent standards that we have come to expect.  The wardens are particularly knowledgeable and helpful and local facilities ( restaurants supermarkets fuel etc ) are easily accessed a few minutes drive from the site.   We will use this site again as an 'overnighter',  but having now seen its ease of access to Glasgow we shall also return for an extended stay to visit this as yet for us unexplored major British city.  A very good and well positioned site.  Recommended !!

Site sets the standards

We stow our caravan at the park compound. We use the site for easy breaks and also to test out new equipment such as awnings. The standard of the campsite is 5 star. The word immaculate springs to mind. On top of this the staff are very professional and friendly. Always pass with a smile and a wave. The location of the site is great. It's very near the motorway and other primary roads but once inside the site, you don't notice the proximity of the traffic and the site is situated in manner that makes it feel secluded. Local shops, entertainment and walks are right on your doorstep. Well done to all the crew, you definitely set a high standard :)

Good location

Spent the weekend here as we had things to do in Glasgow and it is on the doorstep. Toilet block was immaculate with plenty of hot water. The traffic noise was no worse than other sites we have been to. We have been there several times and will have no hesitation in booking there again. good site.

Great location

Handy site just off the motorway, some road noise but it did not affect our stay, would not stop us staying again. Good access to walking and cycle ways, and park and ride to city centre.

Good Location, Vastly Improved Site

We've been staying here for over ten years. When it was a council run site it was a bit grim, but the location was good. As Highlanders we use it for visits to Glasgow and as a stop off on route to and from England. It is great for a family stop over as there is lots of kids stuff nearby, and the fun fair is within a very easy walk. The dog is catered for with the park and now a caravan club site it is up to the usual high standards and a pleasant place to be. Just remember to think of it as a city site and you won't be dissapointed with all the traffic noise, of which there is a lot.

February Weekend

Although some road noise could be heard it did not spoil our weekend. Site spotless and Wardens friendly. We came to do some walking and walked some of the Clyde side way, which is easily accessed from the site, both north and south. Also bird life was pretty good too, especially on Strathclyde Loch

You cannot ignore the road noise

We visited the site for four nights 13-2-15 to 17-2-15. The site is quite open but as there is no foliage on the trees it may have a different appearance in the summer. We were aware that there may be some road noise before we went, but the road noise was like nothing I have ever experienced on a site and was like being parked in an overnight bay at a motorway services. It is a city site and I suppose we have to remember that. The Loch in Strathclyde park is nice for a walk or cycle. Don't think that M&D's is much of an attraction as it is very run down and not a "theme park". The site is easily accessible from the major roads and access to Glasgow is easy. We recommend a visit to "The Tall Ship" which is an excellent [free entry] museum with parking for only £1. The wardens were very friendly and the facilities were spotless. A bit of a walk to the water points but we can live with that. On the Saturday there was a dreadful noise of model aircraft from just outside the site entrance [I cannot emphasise enough how high pitched and intrusive that was]. I am sorry to say that the road noise will probably mean that we won't return to this site.

Disheartened

Being relatively new to caravanning and my wife's first time towing we pitched up on site. At first seemed pretty quiet apart from noise of traffic. Next day we were approached by warden who was pretty perturbed that we had wrongly pitched up.  In all fairness we had and apologised for our mistake and offered to rectify.  She said to leave things as they were as we had our awning up.  The problem was we hadn't left enough room behind caravan for our car and this must be parked along side and not on the grass etc. As my wife came out to see what the problem was she then pointed to our dogs which were tied up and accused one of them of doing the toilet! when my wife looked none of them were and the warden repeated her remark.  My wife asked which one the warden pointed and then realised her mistake "oh its not its just sitting" she thought it was poohing. no apologies.  My wife then decided to park the car at the gate to eliminate any bad feeling and all the parking spaces are taken by work vans or cordoned off.  We only arrived yesterday and my wife cant wait to return home, feel like we have been made to feel like the clampits.  on a positive note we have pitched up next to the play park and the kids are loving it and we have yet to explore outside the park with them and the dogs today.  Think we have been spoiled by the fantastic park and the most helpful and friendly Pat and Trevour at the Forfar site.
