Terrific Totnes

Location, location, location. This site could not be better placed. The site is well cared for by super wardens Ray and Fiona. On entry you are hit by Fiona's wonderful hanging baskets, which saw me reaching for my camera. This being a council owned facility the toilet blocks are more council car park than Caravan Club...however they were immaculately clean - all credit to the site staff. The site looks great as pitches are laid out less formally. All grass, though the club seem to have relented and allowed pitching on what would ordinarily be the visitors car park.  Of course you can't "plug in" here. I think that is one of the attractions of the site, as you can put your solar panel and dual batteries to good use. Now did I mention location? The site is yards from Steamer Quay where you can watch the Dart lap in and out with the tides, cruise to Dartmouth it is gorgeous. Totnes is a brilliant place, quintessentially English, it has a main street brimming with independent shops, not a McDonalds or Costa in sight. There is also the historic Guildhall, Castle and a fab market on Tuesdays and Saturdays (pls check).  On Thursday evening Totness band played outside reception - they were wonderful and it was enjoyed by lots of us..others missed out. Well done for laying that on. Leave the car at home...cycle route 28, superb riverside walks, loads of buses, shops (inc huge supermarket) are right on the doorstep oh and don't forget the Steamer. All means you'll not be stuck. So now I feel a bit mean with my marks? Getting a good nights sleep was tough, due to seagulls making an amazing noise for 19 hours a  day...4am and they must be really hungry. But would it stop me returning.....absolutely not...but pack some ear defenders!
