Superb site on the stunning south Devon coast

First visit to Start Bay and would love to return. The location is simply fantastic. Torcross beach and the south west coastal path are short walk away, and a little further afield you have Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe. A mix of grass and hardstanding, the site is so busy you may not have a lot of choice. We were on a slightly sloping grass pitch but were extremely lucky with the weather, so grass ended up being nicer than hardstanding anyway! Access to the site via Kingsbridge is very tight in places. You would definitely need a stiff drink upon arrival if you were an inexperienced tow-er. Most of the locals are used to meeting vans on the road and help to make sure things keep moving. Roads are very tight in general, and busy even in September. I can imagine that the area would feel very crowded in the height of the summer. Super dog walks all around the site, and a fantastic farm shop/micro brewery/cafe-bar just behind the site. Farm shop also sells all the essentials, and there are 3 pubs within walking distance. Wardens were friendly and pretty diligent. Could have been a little more on the ball in terms of pitching set up (lots of motorhomes with hab doors pointing the wrong way etc).

Access is indeed narrow via Kingsbridge but don’t even think about approaching from Dartmouth as it's much worse!

KNT, I think you need to update yourself with pitching rules as both caravans and motorhomes are permitted to pitch either front in or rear in. It matters not which side the hab door is but putting the appropriate corner to the peg, either o/s/r or n/s/f, is the important thing for safety spacing. It’s shown on the site plan you would have been given on check-in. Seems the wardens probably weren't lax after all.
