Well we spent the first three weeks of August at Start Bay CMC site, and as usual had a great time. The site as expected was in excellent condition, very clean and tidy. Weather, well it was South Devon in August so pretty mixed, we had many beautiful days, along with a couple of very wet ones! Of the local pubs we only used the Tradesmans, up in Stokenham. The food and service was very good, although it is a little pricey. The Church Inn is closer, but not my choice of a place to eat. The journey in from Kingsbridge was challenging as the norm. Just make sure you know the bus timetables so you do not meet the bus coming from Dartmouth. Just take it easy and as long as you know the width of your outfit you will have no problems. The service from the wardens, new to the site this year was superb. They really look after the site and members well. However the assistant wardens, new to the job this year have much to learn in an industry where they deal with the members. Great site ,and hopefully we will be back next summer for our three weeks.
