Simple, Basic site - a throwback to the 1980s

We've pretty much stopped using club sites since COVID and the subsequent dramatic increase in site fees. However, this site was in the right place for what we wanted to do and couldn't find a CL or adult only site with serviced pitches close by, so decided to stay here. It is a basic site with no toilet / shower block. That doesn't bother us as we always use our own facilities, but it does make it very expensive for what is on offer when a similar CL would be around £20 - £25 a night. We had a serviced hard standing with awning pitch. It was **very** tight with our twin axle caravan and 3 metre wide awning, with only just enough space to get the car on the pitch. Didn't measure it, but we were over the grass at the back and had the A frame off the pitch area at the front, so maybe just 8m x 8m. I'd much prefer it if CAMC allocated pitches and then you wouldn't get small motor homes grabbing the largest serviced pitches (and then not using the services) while us traditonal caravanners with larger outfits are left squeezing onto a pitch that is barely adequate. Especially since they ask for unit dimensions when booking. So, moans out of the way... The site is what you'd expect from a CAMC site: well cared for, tidy and with polite and friendly wardens. It's in a large forest, so plenty of opportunities for walking and taking dogs for a walk, etc. Stamford is close at hand and is well worth a visit - lots of shops, a good market and plenty of restaurants with a vibrant feel to the place. Corby is also close by, but sadly looks a little deprived and depressing with the loss of the steel industry, but it does have a large well stocked Tesco for supplies. If you like historic buildings, Kirby Hall, near by, is well worth a visit.
