A late season visit - maybe the best time

We have been visiting St Agnes Beacon for many years and love it. Previous visits have been marred by noisy and unruly children with their even more unspeakably ignorant parents who frequently seem to adopt the attitude "Go and play anywhere on the site, but not near us". This year, however, we stayed for the last two weeks of the season. It was amazingly quiet and we had a really good pitch - even though several pitches had been taken out of service for re-seeding following heavy rain leading to churned up grass. Even more amazing there were no children at all riding their bikes and shouting at all times of day and night. Ok, the weather was changeable and we had the tail-end gales resulting from an American Hurricane that rocked us to sleep on one night - but we also had some lovely sunny days to recharge out vitamin D batteries. We quite like the sound of rain on the caravan roof - soporific! The male warden is a most helpful man with a friendly nature - we didn't actually meet his wife during the stay. It will be disappointing to find that he has moved on next season. We agree with other comments about the seasonal pitches securing many of the best pitches, though we were astonished that quite a few remained on site even after we left on the last day of the season. It was, however, great that the Airstream motorhome has finally given up its great pitch after what seems a very long time. So, although this was the latest time in the season that we've stayed at St Agnes, it was probably the most enjoyable and relaxing we've ever had. We may consider going at the same time next year too.
