This is an amazing site in an amazing location, however a couple of things marred our stay. Firstly be warned that our four nights stay was ruined by the "Blue Sky events eats and beats" blasting out at festival levels between 6pm and 1am over the August bank holiday weekend which has now taken place for the last 2 years so I suggest it may become a yearly event. Earplugs definitely were required which we had but other party members suffered lack of sleep, Had we known this we wouldn't have stayed as it really was quite loud and intrusive.
It also meant an increase in traffic along a very narrow road, most driving way to fast without consideration to pedestrians.
I was also disappointed with the level of "service" at this site. Some changes required.
An otherwise amazing location, fantastic for walkers and those not wanting massive amounts of civilisation. The dog loved the coastal paths and climbs and very much our type of site. Will we be back? Who knows at this point which is a shame.
Beautiful grass pitches with sea views and outstanding coastal paths and coves nearby. Nothing like taking coffee down to Chappell Porthole and watching the sun and waves in the evening.
There should be more of these low facility, reasonably priced, beautifully located club sites.
A great site for those like us, not wanting a toilet block. A nice welcome from the warden and tidy grass pitches to choose from, even in school holidays. A really enjoyable stay. Only negative points would be the last one and a half miles of road which can be tortuous solo and horrid towing, even for the most confident and the entrance/exit which requires a U turn into an external rut which with a wider entrance (space available), could be improved. Please take note of the handbook and arrive after 12 and leave before 12 so you do not meet another member. The next door site does not help the possibility of meeting another outfit but atleast we can.
Great no frills site, the majority of pitches have coastal views to die for. Know the area well but have never stayed at this site, preferring a commercial, for a number of years, a few miles away, but a change in circumstances led to a 10 day stay on the slopes of Aggie Beacon.
So the pro's - views (from the site and top of the beacon), sunsets, P&Q, great wardens, price, proximity of local beach (it has to be said one of my faves in Cornwall), proximity of great local village (one with the feel that people actually live there all year round).
Cons - facilities (no toilet block, playground, or WIFI), tight approach for the last mile). Would I stay here again - oh yes.
We have just returned from ST Agnes after a 20 night stay-it has been our main destination at this time of the year, for the last dozen or so years.
As with all club sites it is immaculate and the wardens are great to get on with and always ready to share their knowledge with you.
The view cannot be bettered although be prepared, occasionaly , for strong winds.
The only criticism is the lack of wi-fi on this site, although the service on other sites we have been on, has left me more than frustrated at times, especially having paid £25 for the year for something which is not acceptable. Those of us who are in business need, sometimes, to keep in touch by e-mail and also for internet banking.
So come on The Caravan Club, move with the times and get the wi-fi service in better shape for the 21st century so that it matches all other aspects which you offer.
We just had 8 days on this delightful site and although it was virtually full it was mainly nice and quiet apart from a few young children on their bikes(
well it is summer term I suppose).Blocks are needed as previously mentioned as some pitches are very uneven indeed, I would recommend that you leave quite early to avoid another caravan coming the other way, I left at 11.00 am and there was a range rover towing a twin axle coming up the hill going to the site before the CC site and I had to reverse up hill about for about 40 meters, if I had left another 30 seconds earlier there would have been big problems!!
Even though we only stayed one night we loved it and will deffenately return with our children. Peace and quiet with private little cul de sacs all over you would never know there were 70 other vans around cowards corner on a windy day was lush. The wardens were great and could not be more helpful *****
This summer was our sixth visit to St Agnes Beacon, and we love it. The views from the site are gorgeous, and a warm welcome awaits from Deryk and Sue Fletcher. Whilst there are some narrow lanes on the drive to the site, that's pretty much to be expected in Cornwall. Some pitches need blocks, but there are lovely, hedge lined 'nooks' for you to site your caravan. it is only a short stroll to a beautiful stretch of the coastal path, and the gorgeous Chapel Porth beach. This is a dog walking paradise - if you don't mind a few steep hills. We love the peaceful quiet of this site. If you have older children in need of entertainment, this might not be the best site for you. But for us, and our 4 year old son, the only bad thing about St Agnes is ever having to leave! We'll be back again next year.
What a location! A bit hairy to get to down a narrow lane but oh the views when you are there.
The wardens were very helpful and friendly, advising on walks and scenic driving routes. This is a great location for exploring Cornwall. The village of St Agnes is pretty and has a few shops and cafes plus you can get cash at the post office.
pitching can be a bit challenging but we'll worth it for the views. There are some lovely coastal walks here. Chippy comes Monday and Friday and the fish is lovely.
