Perfectly good site but not for us
We spent 2 nights on this site in June while making our way back north towards the end of a 3 week trip. The site is large, open and well kept. The facilities are excellent. There was some noise on one night from motor bikes on a near bye road but this stopped by about 10 o'clock. The walk into town is pleasant and took us about 20 minutes, passing a large supermarket on the way. The town is large but we found it rather lacking in character. The seaside and pier area is also large, impressive and well looked after, but unfortunately for us, its undoubted charm remained hidden. The nearest pub to our pitch was the Fisherman's Rest. This is a popular, pleasant, well presented pub with an outside seating area overlooking the car park. Although the pub is not dog friendly, dogs are allowed in this area. While staying here we took the opportunity to visit Antony Gormley's "Another Place" at Crosby Beach - very enjoyable and much recommended. This site will be ideal for many people and we can't criticise it other than to say it isn't for us.
