We were travelling partly on business and partly pleasure, as I have a client in the area. The welcome to the site - very good indeed. The warden was friendly, funny and helpful. The site is essentially split into two parts - old and new - the older is much more sheltered, though dead-ends in part so not great if you go down with a van and need to reverse out again. The new is much more open and cooler in the regular breeze. The pitches, particularly in the newer section, were spotless and well covered and some of them are absolutely huge. The toilet blocks were spotless and the site itself well maintained. WiFi was rather unpredictable, even in the newer section where we were and which we were advised was better than in the old. I need it for business and it had a tendency to drop out. Mobile phone signal and TV signal were fine. One VERY big concern - speeding motorhomes. Late one night - we can't remember if it was the Thursday or the Friday - a number of motorhomes came in late afternoon and in the dark. One big twin-axle in particular (who ended up on pitch 164, if you're reading, Mr Warden) came the wrong way round the site, sped so quickly round the wrong corner that he very nearly clipped my tow-hitch as he went wide, and by my estimate was travelling at probably 20-25mph in parts despite the speed bumps! He wasn't the only one - and I think this is something the Club needs to consider - cars towing vans are very much more careful about their speed. The local park was excellent, the town centre appears to be struggling in parts, the dunes were a hit with the dog, and we were told not to let the dog off the lead at Formby beach (which is huge!) because of lumps of Palm Oil being washed onshore from a wreck (toxic to dogs). All in all, a successful visit - even if the weather was pretty average.
