Lovely site, beaches not close by
We stayed here for a week and had a great time. We walked and cycled from the site. We used the buses (free travel with English bus pass after 9.30) to go to the Needles and to Ryde. Bus journeys were quite lengthy but these were good days out. The Red Squirrel cycle trail was nearby but the loop from Shanklin is mainly off road and not very suitable for road bikes. There is a steep hill to climb in Newchurch! The two nearest pubs both served great food and welcomed dogs. The Pedallers cafe, and the Garlic farm, both within walking distance, also had great food and were very popular. The pitches were of varied sizes, some people did not have their awnings on the correct side and nobody seemed to bother about this. We were not impressed when a couple set up with their awning facing ours. Other people seemed to grab a lot of space for themselves with massive beach screens in addition to their awning. I have never seen this happening at any other club site. In fact, I have seen wardens being very strict elsewhere. The wardens were doing a great job clearing the paths and re- seeding the dry patches where ground sheets had been. They were very welcoming and pleasant. The dog walk was the best I have experienced at any Caravan club site. Our only grumble was that there was no local shop for basics and nothing available at the site due to covid restrictions.
