Good for families

Location disappointing

As others have said, this is a lovely site with good sized pitches. The grass pitches in particular were in short hedged rows giving plenty of shelter. The facilities were good with plentiful showers kept spotlessly clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful and did a good job maintaining the site. But, the location is not I believe suitable for motorhomes, unless they want to drive off the site every day, which is what many did having no alternative. We had hoped to use our bikes and the local buses, but neither were satisfactory. The bus stop outside the site had one bus per day at 9.30am. To access the other bus stop with an hourly service it was necessary to walk about 15 to 20 minutes along a narrow lane with no pavement or grass verge on either side and plenty of fast moving traffic. Cycling was worse. The Red Squirrel trail is about a mile from the site entrance, but to return to the site from the trail there is a 16% (according to the sign) gradient that would test the fittest professional cyclist. My powerful electric bike failed to make the climb on a narrow bendy lane with the cars close behind. For the site information to say the site is good for cycling without mentioning this gradient is disingenuous by the club. To walk off the site the problems are the same as getting to the bus stop. We did manage to get to the Pointers pub in the village where the food was excellent, perhaps the highlight of our stay. So, we cut short our stay and changed our ferry crossing to return early having been disappointed with the information supplied by the club.

Moral of the story do some homework before booking.

we have been to the site 4 times over the last 10 years in caravans and Motohomes and loved its location.

Can get a bit windy as it’s high up.
