Ferry & Stay Deal
This is a pleasant and peaceful site run by friendly wardens. The site is nicely laid out with neatly maintained tall hedges offering privacy if needed. The island is generally well served by buses however see comments on location of stops below. There were at least 13 grass pitches taken out for re-seeding when we arrived severely limiting where we could pitch. We believe this is due to ground sheets being left down too long and completely killing the grass. The washroom facility is large although this is a big site and when full would mean queuing.
The site leaflet says the bus stops outside, yes it does but that particular bus only runs once per day. To access the regular service you have to walk to Amazon World Zoo - 15 minute walk - along country lanes with no footpaths so you do need to be aware of traffic from both directions particularly during busy periods. Both pubs mentioned are along the same or similar lanes so you do need to be careful walking. The majority of people drove their vehicles out for the day which we assume is due to a lack of footpaths. We have never before seen so many motorhomes leaving site on a daily basis. We were considering taking our bikes but glad we didn't as the roads are pretty busy as one or two previous reviewers have commented on.
