Back on the Island after 50 years
Used to go to the Island every year in the late 50's and 60's as a nipper. So this year, we decided, 'it's time to visit the I.O.W. again'. We booked for 2 weeks at Southlands and were looking forward to a great time.
On arrival the wardens gave us a really friendly welcome and showed us which pitches were available. Given that my good lady is very unsteady on her feet, a spot right next to the toilet block ticked all the boxes. The neighbours were all really nice chatty folk. The 2 weeks soon went by and we had a great time. I can't recommend this site highly enough and to quote Arnie 'we'll be back'! Don't forget places to visit, Osborne House, Steam Railway, Needles, Carisbrooke Castle + lots of other things. Which ever ferry terminal you land at, don't let SAT NAV do the work, go to Newport then take the Sandown road through Arreton. Yes, I made the mistake and ended up down a lane 6' 6" wide! There's always one!
