Avoid pitch 42

Lovely site but avoid pitch 42 as it seems people treat it as a parking space even when you have your motorhome on the pitch! This includes the site owner as she visits the hairdressers and can't be bothered to park in her own parking space even when politely asked why she has parked on our pitch.

Near the Beach

Not very familiar with this part of the East Coast so thought we would give Skegness Sands a try. Stayed for four days in early June which unfortunately coincided with a cold snap, so we didn't see much sun! You are sent copious amounts of information by email prior to arrival, perhaps a little bit too much? As a result check-in was quite straight forward. Pitches were plenty big enough for our motorhome and we could have put the sun shade out if it had been needed. Some hardstanding pitches are separated by a grass finger but others are all hardstanding divided by a brick insert to mark them. The grass pitches are in their own area on a terrace which also contains children's play equipment. The toilet/shower facilities are very good but there are very limited water taps and the only chemical emptying point is at the toilet block. On the other hand it has an excellent motorhome waste point with plenty of space to park if you have to wait. The Touring Site is part of a large static park and touring guests can use the indoor swimming pool (EC) on the static park. Whilst its near to the beach I somehow feel that children could feel a bit constricted on this site. The beach is literally minutes from the site entrance and given the limited parking nearby I imagine it doesn't get quite so busy? There is little on the beach except an Arcade which also sells beach things like buckets and spades. There is also a cafe within the Arcade. Better in my view to use the cafe/restaurant on the other side of the road called The View. We used it a couple of times for coffee and a cake. At the opposite end of the road from the beach there is a handy SPAR shop and a couple of takeaways. On the main road is the bus stop with regular service into the town of Skegness so no need to take a vehicle off site.

Great location

Stayed on the site for 2 nights. Friendly reception. Clean site. Great location to walk along sea front to Skegness Plenty of places to eat and drink. Facilities clean We probably wouldn’t choose this site in school holidays or height of season as I expect it gets very busy but for an out of season weekend it was lovely. Will definitely be back.

Fabulous site

We stayed for two nights last week, half term, on the touring site with our Motorhome, two grandchildren and two dogs. We paid £46…No extra charges for EHU, water dogs ,kids awning , extra car etc… Staff were welcoming and facilities were spotless. Gates were closed at 4.30 for security and we were given a key for the gate to the beautiful sandy beach, which was a short walk. There are shops, restaurants, takeaways nearby and the locals were very friendly. You can purchase WIFI from reception. We would use this site again

Excellent site

Our first visit to skegness and was we impressed. Facilities cleaned thoroughly throughout the day. Security touring every half an hour after Gates closed. Very friendly staff. Very secure with key access to beach gate on to promenade and touring entrance to main street with well stocked spar, amasusements, chippy, Indian and Chinese take aways. Beach two minutes off site and an excellent beach, sand and more sand with no pebbles. Ingoldmells 1.8 miles walk and Skegness Town 1.9 mile walk both along the beach/promenade Pitches were tough to get awning pegs however recommend screw-in with drill attachment and had no problem Pitches very large and spacious. A great site, friendly staff, great location and we will certainly be back. Loved the full 10 night staff.

Unwelcoming site

We stayed here in July 2022 for 2 nights mid week, the staff were efficient on booking in but very unwelcoming. A huge list of Don'ts, including dog walking, ball games, cycling other than on the paths etc, etc ( the busiest job on site must be that of the signwriter ). Very close to the beach, but unfortunately the view of serried ranks of wind turbines was not the best. Security vans (Barham Leisure) patrolling slowly around the site at regular intervals, which was intrusive and made us wonder if the site had an issue with security. It was our first time at an affiliated site and may well be our last, it made us appreciate the club sites we subsequently stayed at all the more.

Nice clean site

We stayed here in March just as the season starts to open. On first arrival the staff were very helpful and explained everything well. We booked a hard standing plot which had plenty of space for a awning and a car. The ground is very hard so anybody wanting to put up a awning may need metal pegs and a decent mallet. We was allocated plot 24 which is the closest you can get to the waste/water points and also the ablutions. So we were a little concerned about the noise levels but it was actually still quiet which was nice. The showers are toilets were spotless and seemed to be cleaned 2-3 times a day. The showers were clean and powerful so we used those instead of the caravan shower. The beach is a matter of minutes away from the pitches. A 2 min walk from the hard standing and a 30 second walk from the grass pitches. Once you forfeit your caravan club members card you are given a gate key for the beach key which leads straight onto a flat promenade. The beach is dog friendly and was very quite. This could be due to the time of year we went. A short walk away on the beach front there are two places to get food. A greasy spoon and somewhere to order a range of things including afternoon tea and alcohol. A 5 min walk away from the beach and you will find a spar shop, post office, subway takeaway, Chinese takeaway and a Indian takeaway. There is a fish and chip shop but this was closed being refurbed at the time. Also for kids beach accessories there is a bits and bobs shop selling buckets/spades, wind breakers ect. My only few little problems were the site does not allow children to be children. Yes there is a park. But no ball games, scooters and dogs must be exercised off site. It’s not a big issue as you are close to the beach. The site can be busy with cars and people so I understand the logic behind the decision so we accepted that. The other issue we had was our dog cut her pad on one of the many broken plastic awning pegs on the pitch. So we had to clear the pitch of shards of plastic. She recovered in the caravan but meant we were restricted for our stay which was a shame. All in all a good clean site and we will visit again. We will just be more careful with the broken pegs and we will be trying the grass pitch next time.

Disappointment

I stayed here in April on a superpitch which was booked after 2 previous bookings were cancelled. I booked again as soon as I returned home as I wanted the location which is good for someone with walking difficulties. On my booking, I request over 4 different pitches as suggested by the lady when I booked in and on the emails Skegness Sands send. My time in April was lovely but having to face the wind on a daily basis was not nice so on my return, I asked for a pitch that would be facing the other way around. As I will be working in the day in the caravan i then can enjoy my evening. Receiving my confirmation today after booking nearly 2 months ago and also following up with my request which working in the industry I know is only a request but I do my best to accommodate. I get told I'm right outside the toilets I don't need the toilet I have my own and I don't think people are going to be very happy when walking past that my dog will bark and she is a big dog Old English Sheepdog. Anyway, after the plans, I have got in place of my friend staying with me for w few days all I get offered if a full refund this isn't customer service. At this late stage am I'm going to find a decent pitch for 9 nights 4 days away. The facilities were locked up apart from the laundry. the site is well maintained close to the beach, so good to walk your dog. a bit early to be shutting the gate at 5 pm as most sites it up to 7 pm. The staff were friendly and as they gave me the tip to ask for various pitches when booking was very pleased. I think a little less strictness and more personalable service would go a long way into making this site a real winner. Tip for any off the hard standing pitches need a metal mallot to get the pegs in the ground is that hard.

Disappointed

The site is very car park like lacking grass and atmosphere, The wardens couldn’t raise a smile or a hello and were surly. The lack of fresh water and waste water points was a real surprise over 100 tourers and motor homes and only one chemical toilet waste point was a joke. Location was good But all amenities were to few Won’t be returning
