Lovely stay BUT…….

Just coming to the end of a lovely two week stay at Seacroft., where we’ve stayed several times. The wardens were all fabulous , very welcoming and always cheery and helpful. Facilities beautifully clean but definitely need updating now as very dated and time worn now. The accessible bathroom also serves as the service toilet when other facilities are being cleaned which is rather unfair on anyone who needs this facility as they are requested not to shower during cleaning times, other sites mainly have a separate service toilet. This facility was also very very dated. From Seacroft it’s easy to walk to Cromer 15mins or to West Runton via the coastal path or you can hop on the bus which stops outside the site and travel to many places for just £2. There are many nice eateries around and we would definitely recommend The Corner House Tearoom in West Runton for breakfasts , lunches or just coffee and cake. In the past we have often made use of the Wanderer pub and restaurant on the site which previously provided a varied menu of good food, but this year openings and food offerings have been extremely poor and random to say the least. The chef !! resigned during our second week, and therefore no food was available. We were informed the Wanderer is now managed by a facility manager not the site wardens , though they were very apologetic for the position even though it was out of their hands. We saw the so called facility manager once , but he rapidly did a disappearing act into the back, he barely spoke and to be honest was not a people friendly person at all , not really the type of person needed to front a bar and restaurant in our opinion. We gather this last chef was the 7th to resign in 2 years , maybe this says more about the management than the chefs !!! Either way this facility does not appear to be working at present and therefore the club should review (possibly close) it and just offer the bar , coffee , cakes etc and reduce the pitch price as we are paying a premium for a facility that cannot be guaranteed. It’s a shame because up until 2 years ago it was great and we always made use of it, but you cannot charge for something that cannot to guaranteed. Consequently having been caught out after a day walking and hoping to eat on site only to find a “ No food tonight sign” we made other plans most nights , so lost income on all nights . We will visit again because it’s a lovely site in a lovely area with lots of walks and places to visit as well as the proximity to beach and coastal paths , plus we’ve heard the toilet / shower facilities are hopefully to be upgraded ( fingers crossed) .
