The three S's, Stonehenge, Sarum and Salisbury.
This was our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed. Ii is somewhat hilly and we chose a beautiful site half way down the site that caught the sun most of the day.....wonderful. Quiet, tranquil and some lovely views from the pitches towards the bottom of the site. Facilities were immaculately clean and very adequate, albeit at the top of the site. It goes without saying that the pitches at the top of the site are the most popular.....I wonder why?
Wardens as usual were helpful, informative and always smiling. There was a "used" bin of odds and ends that tempted a look through and you never know a treasure can sometimes be found. Some of our crockery was sourced this way at the new Strathclyde site near Glasgow.
The small shop on site is stocked with essentials to save a trip into Salisbury.
Close to Salisbury Old Sarum and Stonehenge will keep you busy for at least three days and trips further afield will give you Salisbury Plain, Avebury, Woodhenge etc etc so plenty to do. It's a pity that it's not open all year but access around site in icy conditions could be a problem.
We would certainly visit again and hopefully get the same pitch.
