We visited Salisbury Hillside in June 14 which was our inaugural caravan trip.  We enjoyed it then for it's tiered site layout as don't like it where the caravans are all in a row and somewhat regimented. Our return visit in September 15 was just as enjoyable.  The wardens very helpful and friendly, some basic items in the shop, lots of information in the little hut, immaculately clean showers and toilets and well kept grounds.  This time we chose a different pitch which was 1 of 3 in Chalk Down.  It was virtually level, which was great for us as some of them are partly sloping, so set up time was very quick.  We did not not bother with our awning as the weather forecast was good, but there was plenty of space had we wished to do so.  Because the various pitching areas are divided by trees, you do need to think where you want to set up if you're someone who wants to benefit from the sun all day.  if that was the case, then you would be better off pitching on The Green which is more open, but there you have more caravans all lined up so less privacy.  We personally prefer to have only a few visible to us.   It was an easy drive along the A343 to either Andover or Salisbury.  We visited the Andover Garden Centre and adjacent shops which was enjoyable, Danebury Hillfort for some lovely walking and views and ventured into Salisbury for a walk across the water meadows to the Old Mill and back which was lovely.   We would thoroughly recommend Salisbury Hillside to most people.  There aren't any facilities for children such as playgrounds, so it would depend on what you and your children like to do. Certainly, there is some lovely outside space around which everyone can enjoy.  We very much like it for it's location being not too far for us from home and the accessibility to towns if we wish, or as we like to do mostly, just chill out with a glass of wine and a good book to hand in relative peace and quiet.  There is a little road noise you can hear in the distance but not overly intrusive and depends on the weather and which way the wind is blowing as we didn't notice it at all last time. Sadly, the site is not open all year and closes from the 5 October.  We will definitely plan to go back again in 2016.
