Quiet site in a wooded area
We booked in for a quick weekend away to visit Stonehenge (20 mins away) as we are always passing it on the A303 and our daughter wanted to stop and see it. We arrived on Friday night to a fully booked site and the warden directed us to the last pitch available. The site is in a woodland and many of the pitches are fully shaded, I was initially a little diassapointed as there is no open green space anywhere where you could go and sit in the sun, having said this it was a very sunny weekend and in hind site at the end of the weekend I was very greatful for the shade, if not the amount of bird poo on the top of the camper! Overall a good weekend.
Pros
Pitches are in groups of 2/6 so you don't feel on top of other campers
Very quiet, lots of birdsong
If you pitch at the bottom of the site, there are fantastic views over the countryside
Very clean toilet block
4 bars of 4G on Vodafone
Wardens have a free herb garden
Cons
Steep site (although most pitches seemed to be terraced/levelled). If you are pitched at the bottom of the site it is a reasonable uphill walk to the toilet block. Fine if your active like us, but could be a problem if your less mobile. I usually allow our 9 year old to go to the block by herself, but felt we were just a little too far at the bottom of the site to allow this.
No space anywhere to relax other than your pitch, so not as child friendly as other sites.
Due to the wooded nature of the site, lots of bird poo on the camper and the table as we were sitting there one evening!
We would come back for another short break if we has a specific event we wanted to do in the area.
