A small site on three levels with large pitches. Excellent toilet block with dishwashing and laundry facilities. Water and recycling station on each level. Interesting dog walk. Reception area has small shop with a large range of products both necessary and treats. Three large towns/cities within easy driving distance. Magnificent views over the Wiltshire countryside. A wealth of bird life visit the well stocked bird feeding station. The information cabin is well stocked with plenty of ideas for things to see and do. TV reception and Wi-Fi were both very good. The short entrance road has a vicious sleeping policeman, be careful and go slow. A very pleasant, well managed, quiet site. Well worth a visit.
Great site - very well run and kept by the Club Team
A great site which is very well run by a friendly and efficient team - very helpful and welcoming.
Will certainly come back when in the area again.
Immaculate site a testament to the wardens
As daft as it probably sounds? We decided to try out two very close to home sites to try out this caravanning lark, with the idea that if anything goes drastically wrong the worst that could happen would be we pack up and go home!
So…
We make the huge commute of 20minutes to Hillside to arrive at our first C&MH site and…Wow! What a fabulously kept little site this is!
Immaculate with hardly a blade of grass, stone or twig out of place. We meet the wardens who where lovely, helpful and obliging, we asked for an extra night as we didn’t want to rush off Sunday (what’s the point so close to home!)
We had a choice of pitches and chose one down the hill under cover (each to their own it was in shade, not everyone’s choice) first night just us in our row, the next day two other vans turn up one with a young family. Not sure this is the best site for children as there’s not a lot for them but they didn’t seem to care and made the most of the hills on their scooters, lots of families with children who seemed to just enjoy the site and woodland which let’s be honest is what a holiday is about.
As our pump wasn’t working we decided to use the on-site showers…Wow! So good I might drive the 20 minutes and use these instead of home!! So powerful and hot…lovely!
Shower block like the rest of the site is absolutely immaculate!
As I said in the heading, testament to the wardens!
They should be commended, I hope the C&MH club are reading this.
We I’ll actually go back, despite it being so close to home, why not? The scenery is different and if I woke up there and didn’t know where I was I could have been 200 miles from home.
Just proves you don’t need to travel hundreds of miles to enjoy a break 😃
Outstanding view from site
Booked a week then stayed 17 days on this peaceful, well maintained site with an outstanding view of the surrounding countryside from the site. Julie and Mark the wardens are a lovely, friendly and helpful couple and the site is testament to how hard they work as it always looks immaculate.
Would highly recommend a visit!.

One night stay
We stayed for one night as a stopover to Devon. Lovely clean facilities and friendly wardens. We wouldn’t stay there again as majority of pitches were at the bottom of a long slope, the rest appeared to be taken, so steep climb uphill to use the facilities. So this is definitely not one for us. We were glad we were only booked for one night.
nice but
we arrived and found the majority of the pitches were in shade and under trees . a very pleasant stay non the less.
as this is a small site and being in the woods it seamed as if all the best pitches had been taken by seasonal pitch hire. the wardens were very nice and friendly and helped in any way they could.
Superb small site, ideal for enjoying peace and quiet
We stayed on this site to break a long journey from Kent to Devon. Check in was was quick and easy and available pitch locations were clearly explained to us and marked on the site map. Facilities were spotless and the site in excellent condition.
Pitches were mostly grass but some hard standing were available.....presume these were for motorhomes or twin axle caravans.
Site layout was interesting with an access road spiralling down a hill and back again to the entrance. Pitches were a decent size although visitors should make sure that they have levelling ramps and/or some wooden blocks on board.
We loved the peace and quiet of the site and the site wardens were superb. Helpful, full of ideas and always cheerful. A credit to the CAMC club.
Enjoyable Stay
We have had a lovely stay at Salisbury Hillside.
A very friendly welcome apon check in. Facilities where very clean.
Our pitch was at the bottom of the hill and was quite dark but saying that it was really nice and the peace and quiet was great.
Ideal for Adults
Whilst there was not complains about the site, the toilets and showers were clean and well maintained. They could be a fair uphill walk if you had one of the distant pitches.
Unfortunately the stay was spoilt by the morose attitude and borderline rude means of address of the male warden. Shame really - it costs nothing to be pleasant or polite.
I would not recommend this site for children as there are no facilities for them.

Walking?
Wardens welcoming and no complaints about facilities.
However, we found the site dark and facilities would be quite a long way from some pitches at the bottom of the site.
Walking is definitely not possible as there’s a very busy road at the entrance, and the only walk of half a mile along the side of the site, ends with another road, neither of which you’d want to walk along. A lot of the land appears to belong to the army with no accessible footpaths or bridleways.
We did have a day in Salisbury itself which we enjoyed when we caught the bus at the entrance to the site. If it’s peace and quiet you’re after, it’s great, if it’s walking you’re after ..... it’s not.
