LIKE PITCHING UP BY THE SIDE OF A MOTORWAY

Wow! noise, noise and more noise. Imagine pitching up on the hard shoulder of the M25 on a bank holiday weekend and you can imagine the pleasures of Rowan Park CC site. We were pitched in the farthest corner from the roads and still could not get away from the noise. Never again!

Boy racers

This would be a super site if the boy racers and heavy traffic could be sorted out, the most unbroken sleep we had was around three hours and then it started again. After four nights we had to move to another pitch that was better but there were few that was away from the noise. The noise was not mentioned in the web site

We return year after year to this excellent site

Every year I come here and am joined by my son with his tent and my grand daughter who sleeps in my awning. We are always impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities, the excellent showers, the care and management of the site and the friendliness. As other's have said, there are local racers who rev and race noisily, it happens every year and must be a huge frustration for all who have to live with it all the time. They don't seem to go on for long and have never woken me if I am already asleep. If you are a light sleeper you might prefer to choose a pitch furthest from the road.

Description of this site should mentioned the VERY busy road!

This is the first CC site we have stayed on and I have mixed feelings about it. Firstly the good points - the staff are friendly and helpful, the toilets/showers are clean and were cleaned every day, the actual site is clean, tidy and has lots of trees giving it a lovely park like feel. However, there are some bad points :( firstly, the play area is very very small and did not impress my 8 and 11 year old children, it could do with a revamp. But the most important and which has been mentioned before is that the site is situated next to a very very busy round-about, dual carriage way and retail park. As this retail park has fast food restaurants it attracts boys racers during the night and we were woken up frequently by the noise of racing cars and screeching tyres, in fact after a weeks stay we are pooped!! (and we live next to a busy main road too!)

Mixed Blessings

Rowan Park is convenient for us sits near our son's home. Inside the site is deceivingly countrified, but parts of the site are very close to a busy road with associated traffic noise.  The shops are conveniently close, so too are Mc'donalds & KFC, such that if the wind in the right direction you can smell them. The sea is about a 10 min drive, the dome cinema in town is great for rainy days & very cheap at £3.50 weekends. The site itself is very friendly, with great wardens & modern toilet block. There were loads of children onsite in our august stay, but surprisingly the play area is only the size of a hard-standing. We will certainly visit again.

Wouldn't go back!

This is the first caravan club site that I have ever taken the time to send an email to the club to complain.  We decided to book this site after being sent an email in July showing they had availability. I understand why now. The site has many more grass pitches than hard standing. We didn't want a grass pitch so drove round to look for available hard standing. We found one reversed our caravan into it started in-hooking then the warden appeared to tell us we couldn't use that pitch it should of been coned off as there was a motor home now checking in & wanted that pitch!! So we hooked back up drove round again absolutely NO hard standing pitches on the side of the site that wasn't right next to the busy road!! We chose a pitch 3 or 4 down from our original choice on the same side positioned next to the very busy main road. On our 1st night we endured boy racers screech in their vehicles next to us, lorries, horns it was like sleeping on a busy round about. After not much sleep I got ear plugs for night 2 didn't make a huge difference the road noise could still be heard. On night 2 or 3 there was a young man in late teens cycling around the site he looked very out of place & kept looking around he cycled twice past our caravan whilst my husband was out getting water it was starting to get dark. He approached my husband asking if he had a mobile phone!! So not very secure. The showers were warm & clean. Although the 1st thing I noticed going up to the shower block was how filthy the outside window frames & sills were. This dosnt give a great impression I've never seen this before at a CC site. Needless to say we left one day early absolutely exhausted due to not sleeping properly. I emailed the caravan club who said they will change the information to say "some road noise at times"!! SOME at TIMES!

Spoilt by Road Noise

Site in an excellent location spoilt mostly by being so close to a very busy road that the local "boy racers" use as a race track late at night. Unfortunately there are also a lot of seasonal pitches on site which seem to be negelected by the caravan owners. These look unsightly with long grass around the caravans and make so many pitches unavailable to visitoing users in what is a poplar area with few sites. Site itself is good and well cared for by the friendly wardens. Hard standings a bit short in number, but grass pitches are well laid out and not in straight lines whch makes a nice change.

Very enjoyable stay

This was our first time away in our van, so we didn't know a lot about anything on the van. The staff were suberb. They were willing to answer our questions, give us help and even came over to the van to show us how to turn on the gas. Brilliant and thankyou for all your help. Also the site and facilities were spotlessly clean. Excellent. If all the sites we visit are as good as this one we will bevery happy.

First time caravaners

Many thanks to the site management team for their help and support on our first ever trip away in our caravan, 19th-21st August (although only living 10 miles away) with your support it felt like we where miles away from home. Your site facilities certainly show how much care and effort you put in to make any stay a pleasent one. Thanks Tony and Margaret.??
