P2016

We have stayed at Rowan Park (on its quiet side) often, but not for 3 years.  It's a great site, the wardens work hard and are very helpful. The site is well kept and the toilet block is very clean. However, the road noise has increased 100 per cent mostly because the road nearby has been improved to take all the extra traffic from the newish large housing development nearby. It was very full when we arrived with only 3 spaces left all by the very busy road. It wasn't nice at all. We were offered a change 3 days later but we turned it down and returned home early.  Sadly, we won't visit again.

Good south coast site

Good site , central & handy for east & west of the coast roads, clean & tidy ,noisier than most but  madly got used to it .. George & Paul even beamed in on me via my mobile to say (as I'd asked) that due to a cancel, I could extend my stay by 2 days, top blokes ,good strolls & a few beers & I easily slept peacefully ..honest

Very noisy

We were welcomed by a very nice gentleman that gave us a choice of three sites, unfortunately our preferred site was gone and the two remaining ones were right on the road. I thought the noise would drop as the night went on, it did not. What made it worse was there is a roundabout that brings three very busy roads together and yes the boy racers and the honking of horns went on for most of the night. There were also very few of the installed lights around the site working.

LIKE PITCHING UP BY THE SIDE OF A MOTORWAY

Wow! noise, noise and more noise. Imagine pitching up on the hard shoulder of the M25 on a bank holiday weekend and you can imagine the pleasures of Rowan Park CC site. We were pitched in the farthest corner from the roads and still could not get away from the noise. Never again!

Boy racers

This would be a super site if the boy racers and heavy traffic could be sorted out, the most unbroken sleep we had was around three hours and then it started again. After four nights we had to move to another pitch that was better but there were few that was away from the noise. The noise was not mentioned in the web site

We return year after year to this excellent site

Every year I come here and am joined by my son with his tent and my grand daughter who sleeps in my awning. We are always impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities, the excellent showers, the care and management of the site and the friendliness. As other's have said, there are local racers who rev and race noisily, it happens every year and must be a huge frustration for all who have to live with it all the time. They don't seem to go on for long and have never woken me if I am already asleep. If you are a light sleeper you might prefer to choose a pitch furthest from the road.

Description of this site should mentioned the VERY busy road!

This is the first CC site we have stayed on and I have mixed feelings about it. Firstly the good points - the staff are friendly and helpful, the toilets/showers are clean and were cleaned every day, the actual site is clean, tidy and has lots of trees giving it a lovely park like feel. However, there are some bad points :( firstly, the play area is very very small and did not impress my 8 and 11 year old children, it could do with a revamp. But the most important and which has been mentioned before is that the site is situated next to a very very busy round-about, dual carriage way and retail park. As this retail park has fast food restaurants it attracts boys racers during the night and we were woken up frequently by the noise of racing cars and screeching tyres, in fact after a weeks stay we are pooped!! (and we live next to a busy main road too!)

Mixed Blessings

Rowan Park is convenient for us sits near our son's home. Inside the site is deceivingly countrified, but parts of the site are very close to a busy road with associated traffic noise.  The shops are conveniently close, so too are Mc'donalds & KFC, such that if the wind in the right direction you can smell them. The sea is about a 10 min drive, the dome cinema in town is great for rainy days & very cheap at £3.50 weekends. The site itself is very friendly, with great wardens & modern toilet block. There were loads of children onsite in our august stay, but surprisingly the play area is only the size of a hard-standing. We will certainly visit again.
