Great site "but"

This was our first time at Rooksebury and it was one of the best sites we have been on, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, it was real old school with every one having a cheerful word and passing the time. Unfortunately there is a but. The drive into the site is on what my wife described as a death drive, a twisting turning single track drive (no way could you call it a drive) with several double bends on it and very little in the way of advanced viewing of oncoming traffic.there is only about four decent passing places as the other three looked very boggy. It really was deep breath time and crossed fingers that nothing came at you. The driveway really does need some attention to make it easier and safer, mainly because it is so long from the road to the camp site. Other than that, absolutely no complaints and we will be back, I like to live dangerously.

Been to Rookesbury many times, no problems, with the roadway, (10 mph limit), if it was widened it would create a race track.

This is my response to Towbartone. I am very surprised at his description of the drive into the site. I have been visiting the site for 40 years without a single problem, provided of course members observe the 10mph speed limit and if members also observe the arrival time of 1.00pm, with a departure of 12noon there should never be the need for caravans or motor homes to pass on the drive. I do feel his comments were somewhat overstated. Rookesbury is one of the most attractive and well managed sites on the network.

Travel to Rookesbury from N.Yorkshire coast visiting family 4/5 times per year. I’d class myself as a conscientious/nervous tower and I find the lane down into Rookesbury okay (a couple of potholes could probably do with attention in this coming ‘closed season’! If people depart and arrive at the correct times you should not meet another rig! HOWEVER, Rookesbury has a storage compound which owners can access at any time so there is a possibility of meeting another rig on-coming, though a slim chance. If everyone takes care all will be well !

The road is well surfaced, sufficiently wide and with wide verges giving a good view ahead at 10mph  and certainly no 'double bends' when I drove on it last week.
