Ferry stopover

This is the second time that we have visited this site, and again we were not disappointed. The wardens were very welcoming and extremely helpful in accommodating us during our short stay. We stopped one night, and then had a delayed departure for a ferry booking. This really has to be one of the best warden teams in the CC. We visited Porchester Castle, an English Heritage site during our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending a visit. The climb up the keep is really worth doing. Cheap petrol at the local Sainsburys, and a very helpful Land Rover garage made this a great stop over. We dined at the Horse and Jockey at Denmead. This eating place was recommended by the wardens and it was a great choice. Very large portions, great welcome, good service and very tasty food. It is literally a few miles away from the site. Just ask the wardens for directions. We will be back for a longer visit to this site as the area has much to offer.

Groundsheet

In reply to last members comments. I do agree that the said mentioned caravan member, to which we have seen the caravan and awning sited since the first Bank Holiday, sited on said grass pitch, in question.  We have been a regular member attending this site, for over 5 years. You should not blame this member to a certain degree. It is the Wardens responsibility to have mentioned and insisted to the member to lift the  Groundsheet and for not a member on site to make any sly comments? But to seek out the Warden and again inform them. This member and the Wardens knew they were staying for a long period, the wardens should of advised them and placed them on an Hard Stand.

Lovely Stay But

We have return home today from a 5 night stay at this lovely site, the Site Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Now comes the BUT, the site staff have been badly let down by a Member that had 20 night stay and used a non-breathable groundsheet and now that pitch is out of use for the rest of the season, as it so badly damaged. There is a sign to say groundsheets to be lifted periodically, obviously, the offending member considers 20 days is periodically. On our last night my wife went to shower after 9pm and in the Ladies showers were 3 young girls under the age of 11, who were sharing the shower intended for the less able ladies, my wife said that there was water being sprayed all over the floor outside of the shower cubicle, 1 of the girls was no more than  6 years old, these girls had arrived with their parents in the late afternoon, why can't parents supervise their offspring and teach them how to behave on site, instead of allowing them to cause havoc in the Toilet Block, whilst they sit in their Twin Axle Van, without a care in the world, Rant Over

A well rewarded stay

We chose to stay on this site as we were collection our van from Winchester on our way down from Newbury and thought it would be a good place to stop for the weekend as Winchester is half way there, what a good decision, great site helpful staff and we will be using it again for sure. Thank you Caravan Club.

The ruining of a superb CARAVAN site!

We've just returned from another stay at this beautiful site. All the facilities were, as usual, spotless & the wardens a credit to the club. Unfortunately, after visiting for more years than I care to remember, we won't be back next year! The Caravan Club, in their infinite wisdom, are now halving the size of the magnificent dog field. The reason? - to convert it into car parking for the tent campers in one corner! I joined the CARAVAN club & had I wanted tents & the attendant noise, would obviously have joined the CAMPING & caravan club. 0/10 to the powers that be!!

An excellent site

I have just returned from a week at this site and there isn't a bad word I can say about it. The site wardens were brilliant, the site is kept to a very high standard, facilities were excellent and the children's play area is one of the best so far, it has football, golf climbing frames etc.  This was our first visit to Rookesbury Park and we will certainly be going back. Its a fantastic site for families and my son made lots of new friends and enjoyed being out in the fresh-air all day.

A lovely site

What a gem of a site.  A lovely location, a well laid out site with friendly wardens, great facilities and a choice of plenty of hard and grass standings. Toilet blocks were as expected from a CC site.  There appeared to be both a great field for children with dogs getting an equally big field for their fun. We had a problem with our car which meant another, unplanned, night on site, which meant hubby caught the train home while I stayed behind to pick up the car from the garage.  The wardens couldn't have been more helpful, including helping me hitch up once the car was eventually retrieved. Thanks for the help and can't wait to return :-)

What a great site

Spent four nights here in mid May, chosen mainly for its proximity to Portsmouth. It was ideal, from arriving with a warm welcome. A choice of hard or grass standings, and could be as close or far away from facilities as you want. It was during school terms so was quiet, but there is a good play area for children. Ideal spot next to the forest with gate taking you directly from site to forest walks. Will be back again!

What a find!

This is a site we will be returning to. Lovely location and importantly for us an excellent dog excersing field where our pooch could run free, he loved it. Situated next to wonderful forest walks too. A site definitely worth visiting.

What a great holiday

I spent 8 days here at the end of April. In my opinion it is the best site I have visited so far. The wardens and assistant wardens are so kind and helpful. The site is great for walking. My dog loved it. The other people on site were so friendly. Even though I was on my own I never felt alone because everyone was happy to chat - walking the dog, doing the washing up or just generally when I was out and about. I'll be back. Thank you so much to you all for making our stay so easy and happy. The Fish Van is delicious!!!!
