Wonderful!!!

One of the best CC sites I have stayed on, made even better by having a pair of excellent wardens at the time of review. Site is well laid out and nowhere has a car park feel to it. There are hardstanding and grass pitches, virtually all being level. There is abundant greenery around to break up the site without it being oppressive. The 1 sanitary block is spacious and the water pressure is good. There are enough showers to serve the needs of members. The adjacent area is beautiful and very quiet and peaceful. The river runs by the end of the site and is a pleasant place for a short stroll with good and varied wildlife. Within 100 yards is a former gravel works which now houses a nature reserve and is accessible to the public. It has a bird hide. You can actually walk around the lakes and out the other side and continue along the river on a quiet lane. Access to the Cheviot hills is immediate and there are plenty of walking opportunities.  The nearest shop is at the garage about 400 yards away and is well stocked. Buses can be caught from here about. The coast is a good 40 minutes away by car but the views, particularly returning over the hills are simply stunning. Northumberland has many historic buildings to inspect and local history is fascinating. Wildlife has room to live and you should with luck and a bit of get up and go see Red Squirrels, Puffins,Seals, maybe Otters and abundant flowers and bird life. A great place to explore and a wonderful site to do it from.
