Peaceful site in a beautiful part of the country
The pitches are spacious and well marked out. The shower block immaculately clean, with two extra toilets available when the main block is being cleaned. The wardens were friendly and informative. There is a little room with the usual leaflets advertising local venues/events. There is also a map in the wall of the local area, useful for planning walks etc. there is a lovely short walk/dog walking path by the river. There's a hide for bird watching. If you leave the site on foot, turning right at the main entrance, it's a very short walk to a lake that has large numbers of birds. You can walk round this lake. Take binoculars if possible. The site is well positioned for visits to Alnwick Castle (not to be missed and allow a full day!), Cragside House, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne (Holy Island), the Cheviot Hills and a very interesting memorial to the battle of Flodden. We just loved it and are looking forward to returning.
