First thing first; we were early arriving (by 20 minutes) so pulled up on the Park's access road. A few minutes passed before an outfit passed us on its way in. We eventually went into the site. Shortly after arrival a gent saw me us and asked why we were parked on the access road (turns out he was the one passing us). When I replied "because we were early" he laughed and responded, you don't bother about that, we're usually here about 11.30".
It got better. Unfortunately we happened to be here on a very warm weekend. We were pitched near an area where 2 families were pitched. Over the weekend they took over an area with furniture, paddling pool and granddad's dog running around off the lead. No problem re the children until they started screaming and shouting with no response from parents and visitors. So far as the loose dog was concerned, it wasn't the only one. One caravan's door would open from time to time and 2 dogs would run out and run around the caravan and into a small copse adjacent. On top of that, a motorhome occupant would bring his dogs out and exercise them (on the leads) on the pitching areas. There was no point saying anything as the looks I got for shaking my head said it all. Children I agree have to be give space to play but surely not to the detriment of other visitors. So far as dogs are concerned, I have never, in 23 years of using Caravan Club sites, seen so many owners pay no regard to the rules. I am a dog owner and have grandchildren.
As for early arrivals, it seems we (the club)l never deter them by being polite about it.
The site itself is very good with plenty of walking to be done without need to use the car first. Other places of interest are close with Hardwick Hall 'just down the road'. I'm hoping we just picked a bad 5 nights as regards the company we kept.

I stayed at Poolsbrook last October and was very surprised that a number of outfits had already arrived to book in by around 10.30. On the Sunday morning my neighbours left, I took the dogs for a walk and when I got back someone else had already set up and it was only just after 11.00 am! The problem with this is that some people will then start to expect it at every site which will inevitably cause problems at sites where there is narrow access.
