Chesterfield Canal fest that didn't happen!
We booked Poolsbrooke as it was advertised that The Chesterfield canal Festival was on unfortunately for us they didn't advertise the cancellation so well; However, we have stayed at Poolsbrooke before and thought with good walking on the Trans pennine we'd keep the booking.
We set off and had an unexpected blowout of a 7 Month old new caravan tyre. We contacted the wardens and they were fantastic calming us down and keeping all options open for our late arrival. Being a Friday on a bank holiday we expected problems. I'm a member of the AA and called for help because it was too dangerous for us to do ourselves.
The AA got to us inside of 40 minutes and had us on our way within half an hour ( we carry a spare). We called the wardens to ensure we were welcome to arrive late and were assured they'd be waiting for us.
We got in and met the most helpful wardens you could hope for. Because we were late pitches were heavily occupied. We squeezed onto one of only two left. On giving the warden our pitch number we were informed that many pitches would become free Saturday morning and we could move if we wanted, again top marks for the team here at Poolsbrooke.
Facilities were spotless and covid safe system operating.
The site in general is very tidy with a herb plant garden for all, which was a nice addition.
We ourselves never felt unsafe as another review paid sentiments to. It is a fairly open site, but thick hedge growth offered a thick border which ensures plenty of bird life.
Thanks to all in the wardens team we had a brilliant weekend after a stressful start.
