Great site

Stayed 2 nights as not sure of the area. Nice welcome from the warden. Lovely site. Very spacious. Spotless toilet block. The country park is just outside the site with lots of cycle paths. The Trans Pennine cycle path is less than half a mile away & reached via a traffic free path - also the walk/cycle route to Staveley/ Morrisons/ canal. It was the heatwave so too hot for cycling far but we intend to return & cycle the Trans Pennine path another time.

A nice site

A regular visitor to the Poolsbrook as it is only 20-30 minutes from home and a great retreat. A nice site, set in a lovely country park. Facilities are really good and always clean. Brilliant for the dog as she gets excited with the abundance of squirrels and other wildlife in the park. Plenty of walks.there is a very nice Cafe in the park itself. Morrisons supermarket very close by (you can even walk there if you want). A selection of well known takeaway outlets at the services (easy access). Pizza van on a Friday (too expensive). Not as close to the Peak District as the club information may imply- Chesterfield about a 20 minute drive away, with Buxton and Bakewell and Chatsworth quite a bit further. Still we don't go to Poolsbrook for the Peak District, just for a nice quiet weekend or so with the dog. Easy access from the M1. Overall a very nice site to get away from it all.  Cost seems to be getting more expensive!! just over £30 per night at weekends for standard pitch.

A pleasant few days

This site is adjacent to Poolsbrook Country Park and the Trans-Pennine trail which is ideal for those with pets or for families with children. The pitch was level and the site had a good ‘open’ feel to it. The shower/toilet block was very modern and spotlessly clean. Buses ran from the Country Park - during our stay we visited Chesterfield and Bolsover Castle. The wardens were always pleasant and worked hard to keep the site in top order.

Overnight Stay

We have stayed at this site a couple of times before and appreciated its convenient location not far from the M1. It was a fairly last minute decision to break our journey to North Yorkshire. The facilities on the site are good and it made a change to see reception actually sold a few essentials. Interesting history of the site before camping in the information room. My only gripe was the price, a little over £38! This was the first site on an eight site tour of the North East and Scotland and it was by far the most expensive.

Nice break

Easy site to get to, lovely facilities and very kind friendly wardens. Nice to see children playing and making friends in a safe environment. Ignore the moaners.

Not a bad site but….

This is not a bad site, nice walk around the lake and the pizza van on Friday is very good, but a note to the warden, when most people come for the weekend please consider, the grass does not need cutting every day!! spoiled what would have been a quiet weekend

Lovely site - shame the warden encourages loose dogs.

Great site, stayed there lots of times and always clean facilities. Chip van on site on Wednesdays is superb. Only downside this time was the total non-enforcement of dogs on leads. Lots of loose dogs wandering across with owners to the taps, drifting around other pitches etc and the wardens did nothing. Even saw the Man warden twice chatting to the owners of two yappy little dogs that were never on the lead the whole time they were there. Warden was fussing the loose dogs!

Lovely Stay, Extremely helpful Site Manager (Malc)

This site is a little Gem, Perfect for walking and Perfect for cycling. Malc the Site Manager went out of his way to fix my issue with a new buggy for our pet carrier, definitely not in his job description, but thanks to him we were able to have a trip out on our bikes pulling our little dog who's legs do not carry her as far as she would like. Cannot thank him enough. Thanks' again Malc. what an asset to the Caravan and Motorhome Club. Regards Valentino and Diane Kotecka.

Peaceful escape

We went to this site to try out our new caravan - only 30 minutes from home. It’s a lovely site, well spread out with incredibly level pitches, all of which are hard standing. Perfect for a winter / spring get away. Poolsbrook country park isn’t all that exciting, but nice for a quick walk around. The site is so peaceful with lovely clean, new facilities. Access to the local areas is good, we didn’t explore as it’s so close to home we’ve been there done that, but I would recommend as an area for getting into Derbyshire or South Yorkshire. Easy access from the M1. A very relaxing break and the site served its purpose for us.

ALL Rules Should Be Enforced

This is a great site that is well maintained but is let's down by a warden only enforcing certain rules. I was reprimanded for swilling my car registration down with a little water to make it legible yet unsupervised children, some very young, were constantly cycling around both the site and shower block sometimes with units arriving during half term and no action was taken. Our future visits will NOT be during school holidays. As I was abruptly told RULES ARE RULES.
