Site was easy to get to from the motorway. Friendly greeting when we arrived and choice of pitch. We got settled in and found the site to be quiet and peaceful - just what we were hopping for. Right next to the site are some lovely walks. There is a supermarket near by. The facilities on site were spotless, and even when closed for cleaning a separate toilet was available if needed. The site itself was extremely well kept and clean and the information room was a great place to go and browse and find out what’s going on in the area. All in all it was a great place to stay and we will look forward to going back. Well done to the staff for making this a great place to visit.
I've been camping ,caravaning , and motorhoming for 0ver 50 years...went we arrived at poolsbrooke we were happy to see the lake and the amazing wildlife..the site looked spotless, the staff very friendly, everything clearly marked out..pitch was big and tidy, toilet/ shower block was warm, spotless, and plenty of showers and wash rooms up there with the best ...I've been to hundreds of camping sites in uk and all over Europe and can honestly say it ranks in my top 3 and will 100% return not just me but with family and pass to friends of the excellent time we had...a huge thank you and keep up the great work
On Arrival we were greeted by Kristian and what a wonderful welcome it was, he was very Friendly and professional and so helpful, the site and facilities were spotless.
Unfortunately that's were the good bit ends this is our second visit this year 13th-15th Jan and 3rd -5th March, and for the second time we have had the same issue in the facilities Block, which is the site staff have locked off approximately half the facilities in the block I.E. 3 showers where locked off and 3 toilet cubicles locked off and I am unsure of the wash Cubicles, I can understand why they do this, because it saves them cleaning the entire block but that doesn't help us when the block is full at busy times and then you have to embarrassingly look under the door to see if anyone is in before unlocking it with a coin/screwdriver or go away and come back later and hope you can get in then, one of the reasons we use this site is because my grandsons and I are keen runners and like to do the park run on Saturday morning and go for a run on Sunday before we leave site, each time obviously requiring a shower afterwards. Saturday we were lucky, we got there and the 3 showers were free, but people were coming in finding the other 3 doors locked and leaving, unhappily. when I came out of my shower there were two people queuing and had a moan about the other doors being lock then a 3rd man came in and said just use the others that are locked for no reason and promptly took his coin out and unlocked the 3 showers opposite the ones we were using, this happened to us on Sunday morning we got back from our run to find 3 showers locked with no-one in them, this is an unfair practice by the site staff and it should be stopped, we pay a high price now for visiting club sites with Prices increases has there have been, so we expect High standards and good facilities to suit not half the facilities block locked off. RANT OVER but with the mood of others in the shower blocks i will not be the only one making this compliant.
This is a lovely, clean and exceedingly well maintained site. Warm welcome from the wardens. It is spacious and pitches are of a good size. Tv signal needs help from the digital connection on the EHU post. This has probably the best presented and well stocked information room out of all the sites we have been to in the Uk. Toilets, showers and washing up facilities were very clean and lovely and warm which was much appreciated in early March. Access to the site is good and next to M1 and there is a large Morrisons in Staveley for supplies. Staveley itself is not very interesting but there are lovely walks around Poolsbrook Country Park and by the canal- so very good for dogs. Caravan accessory shops close by for any supplies or issues.
I would recommend this site and we will return.
Just spent 4 nights at Poolsbrook, and was really pleased with our first visit. Facilities were spotless and warm with plenty of hot water. Pitches of good size. Well located to M1. Country Park next door for walking and other places of interest nearby.
Only downside is that it is near to an industrial estate and could be a bit noisy during day but didn't impact too much and wouldn't stop us going back.
I had two nights last weekend, and the location is perfect to reach the walking routes around Poolsbrook Country Park and the lake. Had some lovely walks. Wardens were very welcoming when I arrived and the facilities were clean and well cared for. I would definitely come again.
Our second time here. Lovely site with very friendly staff. Showers etc... are spotless. Short walk into Staveley. Will definitely be going back again.
Really easy to access from the M1 yet far enough away for thetre to be no road noise or intrusion. Superb for waklking or cycling. IOnb thius visit I walked. Chesterfield via the canal or Trans Pennine Trail routes, Rother Valley Country Park. Walks to local pubs (food and drink) from the site. Plenty to do from the site. Also an easy walk into Staveley for provisions. Chesterfield a short 5 mile drive away. A good bus service to the site Chesterfield, Killamarsh (Rother Valley country Oark) or Staveley. Everything on site was very clean and well maintained and the staff were exceptiomnally helpful. There are Caravan/Motorhome accessory shops at Markham Vale, Staveley. Brimington and Chesterfield. Definitely a good site which will be on my 'Visit again' list. The site is a credit to the on-site staff.
We had 4 nights here and found this an excellent site. There was loads of room between pitches and we fitted our 8.5m Kontiki on with no trouble.
The wardens were friendly and helpful. The site was very clean and the loos & showers excellent - plenty warm enough.
Shops? On site, there's a small shop with a cafe just down the road at the lakeside. Off site, there's a convenience store at Poolscroft and a big Morrisons at Staveley (room for a motorhome if you are careful).
Activities - none on site that we noticed. But if you like walking or cycling it's a haven. The TransPennine Trail is nearby and that leads to the Chesterfield Canal and also the Rother Valley Country Park - easy cycling as it's all old railway lines. You can also walk or cycle to Bolsover, but be aware there's a big hill to get to it - lovely on the way back. We spent all 3 days cycling around.
Overall, it's hard to think of any reason NOT to come here - and we will be back.
Stayed here on many occasions as we have family nearby.
The facilities are exceptionally clean and well cared for, the whole site is a credit to the wardens who are always around and happy to stop for a chat or answer any question.
We visited Robinsons Caravans and discovered that by mentioning that we were staying at Poolsbrook and showing our CMHC card got us 10% discount (not on gas).
Also the local brewery Silver Brewhouse, located in the adjoining trading estate has a place to sit and sample the products. There are also deals to be had.
No doubt we will be back again soon, this site is amazing.
