Visited this site for two weeks in August 2021. On arrival the warden asked how long we would be staying, my husband advised it would be for 2 weeks, he was taken to a pitch which had been vacated a short time before our arrival, a lovely pitch with an amazing view of the sound. The warden said he was a little concerned as the previous occupant had not used a breathable ground sheet and the grass appeared to have been flattened and died. , He was advised that we would be using an awning as per our booking, but with a breathable ground sheet. On getting ready to leave the site my husband took the awning down, as previously noted the grass underneath was not looking the best. The warden then stated that he was very worried about the state of the grass and what sort of ground sheet had we used. Again he was advised it was breathable and that when we arrived the grass was in a poor state. It left a sour taste to be accused of leaving the grass in a poor state. My husband reminded him that it had been in that state when we arrived and he had allocated that pitch to us. It hadn’t been helped by the amount of rain that we had had whilst there. If groundsheets are such a problem then perhaps the club should ask that they not be used. We had had a lovely time at Plymouth Sound, but this was marred somewhat by the wardens parting comments.
