Worth the narrow windy lanes

Lovely site, great views as everyone has said, always ships going in and out and the most amazing sunsets. Good but steep walk down to Bovisand but a café with good coffee and a rest for weary legs ready for the walk back!!!. For walkers you can pick up the coastal path from here. When towing the last 1/2 mile of lane leading to the site is narrow with passing places, but a bit difficult when you meet a tractor coming the other way!!! Definitely need to keep to the arrival time as meeting someone leaving the site whether it is a motorhome or caravan would be very awkward. Plymouth is very interesting with lots to see and Buckland Abbey is well worth a visit. We have no children so my score is not very accurate but maybe a little quiet for them.   The site was kept very tidy and well tended, and normal facilities as always are supplied but as no toilet block the price is kept lower.  In our small motorhome about 4 days without facilities is okay

Tour of the South West in our Swift Kontiki

After following the instructions in the Site Handbook to the letter we still managed to end up down a narrow country lane about a mile away from the site. However, upon arrival we were met by lovely, friendly wardens who were helpful and could not do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Every pitch has wonderful views over the Plymouth Sound and there are loads of places to visit with an excellent ferry from Mount Batten across to the Barbican for just £1.50 each or to the Royal William Yard for £3.00. Will definitely be back!

Great area to follow our hobby of Geocaching.

A great site which has no toilet or wash facility .As said before it was quite sloppy and when we were there in August it was wet and muddy and no hard standing .We were prepared for this and parked up facing downhill. with mud grips to enable us to leave without getting stuck!Friendly wardens and honey and eggs for sale .

Fantastic site with great views

My wife, little boy and I stayed here in late August 15. Reasons to stay here are; awesome views, location close to Wembury, Mothercombe, Bigbury and Bantham beaches, 10 mins to Plymouth city and its a quiet peaceful site. Wardens were very helpful and accommodated us 2 nights earlier than planned. Clean and well laid out site with flat and sloping pitches which vary from slight to quite steep! Be sure to approach from A38 marsh mills (big sainsburys) exit and take to road towards Wembury, it's then an easy drive in dual carriage and wide roads until the last 3/4 mile of Devon lane which has passing places. Read the web page for details of this. We'll be back again for sure.

Lovely site - friendly wardens

We stayed at Plymouth Sound for 6 nights in mid August 2015.  A lovely site - all grass (beautifully kept) - with many of the pitches having views across to Plymouth Sound.  Beautiful flowers and flowering shrubs around the site were much appreciated. The wardens were amongst the friendliest and most helpful we have come across - and the standard in all Club sites is VERY high..!! Access can be a bit tricky when there's traffic around, but experienced drivers will have little problem. The one disadvantage of the location is that the top of the headland is high enough to be in cloud when the weather is indifferent - for 2 days we could hardly see the edge of the site through the fog. The location is convenient for the Mount Pleasant ferry across to the Barbican - every 30 minutes until 11pm.  Much better than taking the car round into town.  Both local pubs serve food - one is within walking distance. We enjoyed our first visit to the area.

Plymouth not so sound

The site was extremely clean and tidy and the wardens were superb. The views are fantastic but the access is the pits. The lanes to the site are very narrow with limited passing places, the final approach is so narrow that the bushes brush both sides of the caravan at the same time. Trying to read the instructions in the dark due to ferry timetable our approach was very fraught. I have no idea how the club could improve access other than to re-locate.

Just perfect

So I'm relatively new to the world of the motorhome, I discovered Plymouth Sound more by luck than judgment a few weeks ago & have been back 3 times !! (I only live in Exeter ) the site is beautiful, very well kept, stunning views & such great wardens. It's given me the confidence boost I needed when using my motor home . The site is peaceful & has a lovely vibe about it. I've stayed with a friend & on my own & have enjoyed it emensly, I've been completing university work & it's given me the peaceful space I needed , I look forward to returning very soon !!

What a hidden gem

This site is not for you if you want, noise, club house etc. For us it was perfect, the site is well kept, the wardens are great, and the views fantastic. There is a great pub serving good food 5 minutes away, and another approx 1 1/2 miles away. The second is worth the walk (or drive), great food with lovely sea views. Our dog had a great time too, the dog walk is large and fun for them, with areas left un-mown for them to romp around in if they wish. Down the lane by the site, brings you to a dog friendly beach, a car park and a couple of cafes. Overall, it was a great couple of days. Thank you.

WILD & WONDERFUL

We rate this site very highly because of its cleanliness, position, views and wardens.  We were not put off by lack of facilities as we are self-sufficient other than need for water, drains & electrical supply.  Wardens are super and could not do enough for members on site - Thanks Guy & Christine.  We put our awning up in a strong wind and neighbouring caravanners were very quick to help us make sure we completed the task safely.  Will we go back again?  The answer is definitely YES
