Beware of Noise and Dust

We have just returned from 4 days at Pembrey. The staff are great and the site clean and tidy. We pitched on plot 11 of the fully serviced pitches. The site is perfectly located for a nice walk to a long stretch of sand that is great for the dogs. The Country Park provides a nice stop on the way back for coffee. The food is a tad exe but nice. Unfortunately the landowner immediately adjacent to the eastern boundary of the site runs some sort of stone crushing operation which starts up at around 0800 and continues until approximately 1800. The noise and dust is horrendous. The operation affects all of the fully serviced pitches and those near to the west of pitch 11. A whole new world exists to the rest of the site where all is quiet and peaceful away from the stone crushing nightmare. Sadly, there is no reference to the activity on the CAMC website. I spoke to the office staff who informed me that the operation has been going on for years and that the warnings were taken down from the CAMC website some tome ago. I phoned HQ who heard the noise and agreed it was unacceptable. The lady did say that a warning exists on their telephone booking service so, if you call CAMC to book you will be told that there is occasional noise and smell from nearby properties. Trust me there is nothing occasional about the noise and dust. Furthermore, and just to rub salt into the wound, the owner decided to play loud music until midnight on one of our nights. Would we return? Yes we will but will be keeping to the west of the site and well away from the fully serviced pitches and advise all visitors to do likewise. A formal complaint, including the recording of the noisy stone crusher, with, suggestions, has been submitted.

Reply from the Club:

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Pembrey. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the adjacent landowner's operations. While the noise and dust are infrequent, we do advise members to check our Before You Travel page so they are aware of this before booking or travelling to the campsite. We appreciate your understanding and are glad to hear that you enjoyed other aspects of your stay.
