Been going for 22 years
My family, friends and myself have been stayed at this campsite every summer for the last 22 years (and several times in between) and we have seen it go through many changes, physical and structural. It is a good size site that offers hard standing or grass. With it's free walking access to the beautiful country park it is an attractive and popular site for families and dog owners. Therefore if you don't like the noise of children playing and dogs meeting, common sense would dictate to avoid the site during school holidays. If you have kids they'll have made friends before you've finished setting up! A handy trick of the trade for the showers - If you find yourself cueing for a shower at peak times in the bigger toilet block, just remember there is a second block with showers in and there is almost always no cue and two free showers, even when there might be 4/5 people waiting in the bigger block. The country park is currently at its most basic that I've ever known it but don't let this put you off as it still has vast beaches and beautiful woodland walks to fill your days. It has just received a grant for revamping so should be full of additional services in the next few years. I've seen a fair few wardens run this site in 22years and the Wardens currently running the site are fabulous. A really down to Earth couple who are flexible and realistic to the needs of the visitors and always go the extra mile to please. They have the right personalities to run a family site and the emotional and social intelligence to be able to enforce health and safety (amongst other site rules) without coming over dictator-ish or aggressive (as I have seen this many times in the past). For rainy days it is close to the lovely Welsh towns of Kidwelly and
Carmarthen where you can fill your days with castles/shopping/good food. It is a beautiful place and I hope you fall in love with it.
