Pembrey - Lovely site

We stayed her for 3 nights with our dogs and loved it. Excellent site with good size pitches. Facilities were very clean and warm and well lite. Not too crowded so plenty of showers etc. Being able to walk directly into the country park was brilliant for us and lots of different walks to do. Downloading the "Historical Trail Pembrey" to your phone is definitely worth doing as the information on the History of the place was really interesting and a lovely informative walk around. we loved the Dairy in the park for fresh milk and milkshakes. The cafe at the Visitor centre was good value for money. Nothing fancy but good for a coffee and cake or quick pizza if wanted. The beach was a lovely walk and being able to take the dogs on there was definitely a plus. Would definitely come here again.

Another amazing visit

Just leaving after 18 nights, spent a lot of time on the Millenium Coastal Path as far as Loughor Bridge with lots of stops for tea and Welsh Cakes along the way. Stunning coastal views with easy access to the beaches. Pembrey Country Park also has many bicycle trails and an amazing 9 mile beach. All the wardens were keeping the site very clean, even with a facilities block that needs a bit of TLC. The floral display at the entrance is a credit to them, they all had time to stop for a few words and had lots of tips to share. NAZ the local Indian, amazing food delivered to the site ( one of the tips) There were even friendly guard dogs Sam and Callie ( loved a treat). The only concerning problem is the dog owners who think it’s ok to let their dogs foul empty pitches or even the grass between, even though the majority pick it up there is always residue left. Also Motorhomes using the water and grey waste point then think it’s acceptable to drive against the circuit against oncoming traffic rather than exit and re-enter. LAZY. This is our 3rd visit and certainly won’t be our last.

Pembrey .Nice site but let down by the area

A nice site and the country park next door is fantastic for walks and children . The wardens were really helpful and helped us change our booking at very short notice. About a 20 minute walk to the beach with clear directions where you can and cant walk your dogs. The cafe and restaurant on the country park were just about Ok . No shop on the site and the ice cream van was supposed to turn up every night but did not. There was a little supermarket a couple of miles away. We like to go exploring the local area but were disappointed with the local villages. Lack to public toilets, dog bins etc . Shame could be a very nice area.

Great site and base for leisure cycling ... but no food shop

We stayed for a second time at this great site, and love it. The wardens are friendly and helpful (with one exception), and keep a clean and tidy site. There used to be a visiting Baker, but he's sadly gone out of business. Equally sadly, there are no food basics (milk, bread, etc.) available at reception - not really sure why, considering there are no shops within easy reach if you can't drive. If you are into leisure cycling there is a National Route passing by the Country Park, going west towards Carmarthen, and East towards Llanelli; bothbroutes are almost flat and well paved. We went East, stopping at Burry Port where there is a Coop, Bakery, Fish & Chip shop, and (by the harbour) a great 'Crazy Crepe Cafe'; then on to Llanelli, where there are plenty of shops - about a 20 Mike round trip.

Amazing Stay

We love Pembrey. The staff are fantastic, always smiling and pleasant. Mel and team are wonderful. The site is spotless, slightly dated shower blocks. The pitches are well laid out with ample room between your neighbours. A beautiful setting, with ample of things to do in Pembrey Country Park. Mr Whippy comes nightly, it would be nice to have the milk man and bakery man back!

Lovely setting and well-maintained site

Our first stay at this site and we loved the lay-out of the pitches, plenty of space, and a choice of hard standing and grassy areas, some with trees and shade and some open with direct sunlight. The site was very well maintained and the wardens were always working! We didn't have the best weather for the 5 nights we stayed but we did manage a walk along the coast path into Burry Port and would have liked to have more time to explore Pembrey Country Park as it's right on the door step, especially with the interesting war-time history. Very pleased with the food at the nearby Ship Aground in Pembrey who served an excellent Sunday lunch. The only negative I have is that the facilities are dated and look well worn, they are kept heated and regularly cleaned by the wardens to an excellent standard but they need money spending on them, and for the size of the site one block I would imagine gets very busy at peak times.

Why haven’t we been before ?

We spent 4 nights here but we hadn’t originally booked it as part of our South Wales tour - we were transferred from Gowerton due to flooding. We were over the moon once we got there - exactly our thing. We rely on our legs, electric bikes and local transport to get about once on site. The wardens were brilliant as we hadn’t planned on being here had not done any research so their input was fabulous. We cycled and cycled and cycled everywhere. In fact we followed the coastal path so far we got within a mile of the Gowerton site - Swansea a total of 30 miles that day! We tried to get a drink at the Pembry Country Inn but was told nowhere to park bikes so went further down the road to the Ship Aground, very friendly welcome , bikes racks outside, food looked nice and restaurant was full the day we went , we didn’t eat there but it looked very nice. Was nice to be close to the beach where we spent a lovely late afternoon , evening in the sun reading watching the surfers. On our list as a favourite and will be back.

7 day stay in September

The wardens on this site are some of the nicest people we've encountered during our membership. This site is absolutely perfect, so many walks long and short, great facilities yes they are in need of a upgrade but they are spotless and that's what counts for us . This very quickly became out favourite site of the year and we will be back! Thank you to the fabulous wardens, we had decided not to renew our membership untill we stayed with you, we have now renewed .

Lovely Wardens but overpriced for outdated facilities

The location is amazing based in Pembrey Country Park. The Club site itself is a lovely layout within the trees. Unfortunately we went at quite a busy time, lots of dogs off leads walking and peeing other other peoples pitches. Facilities - Decor is very dated and in need of a service. One of the toilet blocks had door locks held on by cable ties, exposed pipe work and flaky paint. Not something I would expect from £45+ per night site. The wardens are lovely and very welcoming and there is a good shop CK’s around 2 mile down the road

Great location but expensive

Stayed here 4 times now and it’s a great location and some pitches are fantastic if you get in early. Don’t tend to use the facilities as they are pretty old fashioned and not the best so we pay a lot of money just for a pitch basically. Haven’t stayed in school holidays before and it was very busy with kids on bikes which was a bit tricky around the barriers to enter/leave, a boy in front of us decided to dump his bike in the middle of the barrier and walk off! We paid £40 a night and it isn’t worth that amount for just 2 people, no awning.
