Good for families

Near perfect for us and probably others but…..

This was the third site in a holiday we were spending walking the Offas Dyke path starting in Prestatyn (using Chester Four Oaks as our base for the first week) on my 50th birthday, via Ludlow site over the jubilee, finishing at Chepstow (using Pandy as our base for the third week) on my mum’s 70th birthday. And for this final week, I have to say that we were a little concerned about having to use Pandy having stayed here years ago and mum finding the trains disturbed her sleep. However with the path passing by so close, it was ridiculous to go elsewhere. And what a good decision it proved to be. Yes the trains still ran although to our memory not so frequently and certainly not causing any more disturbance to our sleep then elsewhere when owls, road noise, early morning clatterers cause just as much issue. And yes the shower block was a proper throwback which wouldn’t have mattered - they were clean and the water was hot (mostly) - if only you could control the shower head. But the ambiance was great, the wardens friendly and welcoming and the dog walk fantastic for our energetic springer who had plenty left in the tank even after a days walking. So our recommendation is if you are walkers ( you’re too tired to be bothered by the odd train) and/or dog owners then I would suggest well worth a go. Families ( there is no kids area) and light sleepers maybe not. But if you do go, stand with your back to the loo block and look up at the hill. The Offas dyke path runs right past the small clump of trees you’ll see which gave us a memorable moment waving to the third member of our party in the site below. Update the shower block and we’ll def be back!
