Spent 3 nights here in July, in glorious weather. Have visited many times before as it is easy to find and the location is good. Pretty and pleasant site, with lots of flower tubs for colour. Bus stop is just outside of the site, which takes you to Abergavenny or Hereford. The site is quiet, despite being well used, cosy, good sized grass pitches, the trains are not an issue for us (except that the trees are overgrown which block any view) - however if you are a light sleeper we would advise you use earplugs as the trains do run all through the night. Disappointing is the toilet block/facilities. We first stayed here back in 2007 and it appears that it has not received any attention since! Despite the best efforts of the wardens to maintain hygiene and cleanliness, the inside requires complete renovation and refit. There are areas of damp on ceilings and walls, dated plumbing, wall tiles from the 1980's and the shower heads vary from one cubicle to another, some work, some don't. Whilst there is hot water and this may be adequate for some club members, there are other sites within the Club network who provide far superior modern facilities. Beyond the control of the CAMC, but worthy of note is the declining Old Pandy Inn, where the welcome is less than warm, despite the location at the end of the lane/site entrance - (days with no draught beer!!). If you venture into Abergavenny, Neil Powell the Butcher on Frogmore Street is well worth a visit for the finest in local fresh and cooked meat products to tempt your tastebuds.
