A Site of Many Contrasts
Commuting to Newcastle so chose this site for a one night stay. Location is lovely, right on coast overlooking Whitley Bay and St Marys Island, very interesting places to vist close by such as Tynemouth Priory and Seaton Delavell Hall, great transport links via local buses and Metro rail link. The site overall is a credit to the hardworking and friendly Wardens, toilet blocks and other areas were spotless.
The site photo looks lovely, however the club's "pack 'em in tight" mantra means that three or four strides will put you in touching distance of another van in all directions, you can easily watch a neighbours TV without straining your eyes and any privacy without drawing all your blinds is none existant! Access to some pitches is via driving between parked vans rather than on driveways!
We got caught out by the queue of early arrivals, completely blocking the gateway in and out, not helped by cars parked up next to the exit!
The motorhome waste empty and fill up point is fine, toilets as I said very clean and tidy, lovely planting up around reception (love the lighthouse!) a very good site if you have dogs as good walks directly off the site all up and down the coast.
We will come back and explore more, but hopefully when less busy. All credit to the Wardens for doing their best to keep things flowing on site.
Views are quite good although glimpsed through lots of other vans. Pitches at front of site close to sea look good but this is a very busy footpath with lots of joggers and dog walkers!
