A little gem.
This was our first visit, on the way back from Scotland and what a lucky find. The site is in a super spot on the cliffs, overlooking the sea and St Mary's lighthouse. The wardens were lovely and so helpful and the facilities were extremely clean, if a little small.
We love to walk and there is a good footpath alongside the coast into Whitly Bay. Also great bus links into Newcastle, which is handy. The highlight for me, was seeing seals close up at the lighthouse, amazing! The beach at Sutton Sluice is lovely, all sand dunes and open beach and the food at the white pub (Kings Head or Kings Arms) was really good. We would most definitely come back and bring our bikes next time.
