Fantastic site, what a view, and as with most club sites facilities nice and clean.
Our only gripe was the wardens.
1. We put up a wind break, and were told that it could not stay up overnight, despite the fact that whilst we were there a neighbours was out for days?
2. Electricians turned up to fix a bollard (not ours), our power was turned off (on 3 separate occasions!) with absolutely no warning. Also whilst grass cutting, again electricity was just unplugged. I would imagine in certain circumstances this could cause issues with vans electric circuits. Surely just a knock on the door out of courtesy would help.
Site small sloping quirky but on cliff top with marvellous views of St Mary's lighthouse £70.60 for 2 nights. No awnings - pitches closer but maybe because of winds on cliff top site. Also the gravel stopped short of the roadways so you had to cross dewy and slightly muddy grass to get to the vans which brought much dirt in even in fine weather. Good facilities.
We arrived just after 2pm on Monday 9th May. There wasn't a queue. We were met at the entry by a very friendly chap who asked for our CMC card then told us to go and choose a pitch then come back to reception to register and pay. We were lucky to get our favourite pitch (9) as its side on to the view which suits our motorhome perfectly.. Its actually quite a flat pitch too (although we still use our levellers). I went back to reception as requested and sorted out the payment. We had a lovely four days. We walked miles as besides walking into Whitley Bay, you can also follow a local trail upstream through woodland from Seaton Sluice. We were lucky enough to spot a large pod of dolphins . I have come home with the key … I had a phone call from the site but by that time we were in West Yorks. Im such a dippy and apologised. We didnt actually use the loos/showers as we use our own a d I simply forgot all about them. The lady who phoned was so nice and I promised to post them straight back. So ..we have had absolutely no problems with the wardens. We found them to be very friendly, ( and understanding!)
Dont let it put you off at all. The site is just amazing.
Beautiful stunning views. Lovely pitches. Great location. Clean site. Picky unfriendly wardens. Check in the worst I have ever seen. The system of arriving needs looking at. If the neighbourhood dislike people arriving and queuing let people in and take a pitch. I have never seen anything like it a queue is a queue but the wardens allow people to run in and stand on a pitch and claim it out of order of the queue which is a little unfair. I’ve never seen anything like it. Allocate a pitch on arrival but stop this ridiculous check in.
This a great site for coast. Bus stop very near. However the wardens are not very friendly and some off site neighbours don’t want visitors. I have been before and know there can be agro ,so be warned if this is your first visit.
We were very impressed with this site in an amazing location. The view across to St Mary’s lighthouse is impressive and seemed to be available from all pitches. There are cliff top walks to the lighthouse and to Whitley Bay. The lighthouse is where you will find grey seals basking on the rocks. A short walk either along the cliffs or along the road to the Kings Arms. We would recommend the food and a lovely welcome from the staff. First class site.
Just enjoyed another long weekend at this excellent site, having been coming here for many years and never get tired of the wonderful view.
Just a couple of negatives, I arrived at the site at 1.10pm to join the queue. I do not understand to prevent the backlog why they don't allow people to come through and the warden take their club card and return later to book in after getting pitched to remove the congestion and fast track people through. What was even more disappointing and unacceptable was people behind me in the queue were getting out and walking onto the site to reserve pitches before proceeding to book in which isn't good. Something for the wardens to police!
We had a fantastic short break at the early part of the Easter weekend. We hadn’t been to the site for many years and it didn’t disappoint on our return.
The facilities were really clean and in good order, the site is well set out given it’s on the edge of the cliffs.
Great site, lots to do in the area, friendly and helpful wardens. What more could you ask for?
We also did a vlog review on our YouTube channel, LeisureBit where we shared the great site and our visit to Seaton Delaval Hall.
Thank you - great site, service and would highly recommend!
David, Rachel and Roxy our Labrador.
Cracking and popular little site albeit on a hill so levelling ramps WILL be required. But views to die for!
Very friendly wardens who let you choose your own preferred pitch. We had lots of options, all with amazing views. Some of the pitches are a bit small and you have to access them by driving across the grass so you might want to consider how you’re going to park / get off pitch if it's wet.
Lots of sandy beaches around Whitley Bay, Blythe and up to Cresswell and Druridge Bay. You can walk for miles through the dunes and along the beaches. Our dog loved it. Easy access to coastal path north and south which passes along the cliff in front of the site. Woodhorn Mining Museum at Ashington worth a visit.
Co-op 10 minutes walk from site, Decent pubs within walking distance including Delavel Arms at top of access road which brews some of the best beers I’ve tried in a while.
Facilities slightly tired looking but perfectly adequate and apparently scheduled for refurb.
