We arrived in poor weather after a not very pleasant trip. Warden not helpful and walk away after we had an issue on site.
Site close to sea and views super. Great for busses to travel if you dont wish to use your car.
Site needs a bit of modernisation.
If you like sea views this is the site for you.
Fantastic. Like having your own cottage by the sea. We were lucky with the weather and even the dramatic thunder storm over the sea and lighthouse after dark was fascinating. Fantastic walks, convenient buses. Ask the locals they are all so friendly and helpful. We absolutely loved it here.

lovely views
Spent 3 nights at this site. Small with tiered pitches so everyone has a good view. Lovely beaches. we walked to whitley bay along the beach, super for dogs. Unfortunately the weather wasnt good, was told it is windy there and it certainly was, and cold even in June. Wouldnt really recommend the pub at the approach road to the site. Food was okay and cheap, but we could take the dog in so that was a bonus as it was so cold out.
Excellent Site
We stayed for 2 nights 21-22 June the site has very friendly wardens, the site shows an excellent standard of care and attention. Brilliant location just 2 miles from Whitley Bay which is undergoing development so would like to visit again to see how it turns out. Excellent sea and lighthouse views from the site, the weather was changeable so put a bit of a dampener on our visit though all on site seemed in good spirit. Lots of walks though there is an excellent bus service (6 per hour). Even though we had a reasonably level pitch levelers were still needed, if you are in the area this is one not to miss.

Fantastic Views
We managed to book a couple of nights on this site during our tour of the northeast, despite the online booking system saying it was full; a phone call to the site revealed spaces. What a gem, the views from any pitch are lovely and you can see and walk out to the lighthouse, the pitches are not spacious but adequate - we only have a motorhome to park so not tight for us. The whole site slopes down towards the cliff edge so chocks may well be necessary, we didn't need any and were reasonable level. All are hardstandings, just a rectangle for the caravan/motorhome and most access is on grass. Manouvering a caravan on maybe tricky without a power mover (never tried towing!). The only shower and toilet block is small and the shower cubicles narrow and the water warm rather than hot, not many showers but at least an equal number of privacy cubicles. Handwashing area in the ladies friendly and using the hand driers blocks the 'corridor' at the entrance. All immaculately clean. Much to explore in the area but we chose our visit as 'chill' time and only walked to the lighthouse a couple of times, saw lots of seals basking on the rocks and dolphins feeding. Walked along the cliffs to Seaton Sluice, nice walk, lovely beach and dunes. Had a drink in the Kings Head, lots of outdoor seating which we made use of as the sun showed its face. We just missed food as they finished serving at 5pm on Sunday. The wardens, just two of them, do a great job and were very friendly, the garden - especially the lighthouse was a credit to them. It must be very difficult to fit everything they need to do into their working day but they do and always wear a smile. We bought eggs and can honestly say they were delicious. It's a long way from home but I expect we'll be back and we didn't get to Whitley Bay let alone Newcastle.
Flawed gem
Shower cubicles narrow, showers lukewarm. Better showers would have scored 4 for facilities. No site leaflets provided by wardens. Pitches small and sloping.
Stunning views of the entry to Port of Tyne [track shipping on the internet]. Great Local History website.
Easy access to Beamish and Alnwick Gardens.
Great location with sea views.
Having stayed here for the past two weeks it is hard to add to other reviews. You cannot fail to mention the stunning view looking out towards the lighthouse. This is a perfect location for walkers/dog owners and cyclists with access to coast trails straight out of the site. The icing on the cake for me was that at low tide you can walk across the causeway to the island where most days you will see grey seals lazing on the rocks, or you can climb up inside the lighthouse to the lamp room. The facilities are always clean and the site is well tended by the hard working wardens. Just remember that this is a none awning site, although some members had erected quite large windbreaks to boarder their pitch. It is worth mentioning that being on a hillside some of the pitches require levelling blocks and quite large blocks under the caravan steadies. All in all this is one site I would defiantly return to in the future.
A Site of Many Contrasts
Commuting to Newcastle so chose this site for a one night stay. Location is lovely, right on coast overlooking Whitley Bay and St Marys Island, very interesting places to vist close by such as Tynemouth Priory and Seaton Delavell Hall, great transport links via local buses and Metro rail link. The site overall is a credit to the hardworking and friendly Wardens, toilet blocks and other areas were spotless.
The site photo looks lovely, however the club's "pack 'em in tight" mantra means that three or four strides will put you in touching distance of another van in all directions, you can easily watch a neighbours TV without straining your eyes and any privacy without drawing all your blinds is none existant! Access to some pitches is via driving between parked vans rather than on driveways!
We got caught out by the queue of early arrivals, completely blocking the gateway in and out, not helped by cars parked up next to the exit!
The motorhome waste empty and fill up point is fine, toilets as I said very clean and tidy, lovely planting up around reception (love the lighthouse!) a very good site if you have dogs as good walks directly off the site all up and down the coast.
We will come back and explore more, but hopefully when less busy. All credit to the Wardens for doing their best to keep things flowing on site.
Views are quite good although glimpsed through lots of other vans. Pitches at front of site close to sea look good but this is a very busy footpath with lots of joggers and dog walkers!

Very Enjoyable Stay
We had 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The facilities are first rate, and sea views fantastic.
Buses pass the road end every 10 minutes, from Blyth to Newcastle, via Whitley Bay.
On arrival we were having problems with a leaking kitchen sink. We called J & J Mobile Caravan Services, based in nearby Cramlington, who came out within 2 hours (at 7 pm !). The problem was fixed within an hour, and I was only charged a small labour charge. If I lived in the area, then they would get all my service work. Many thanks to J & J.
OMG Caravan Club Wardens are really human!
From the moment you pull on to the site what can I say, one of the best views we have ever had camping. We loved it so much so we will be back but we did not go out and about we just stayed to watch the view change. It was stunning.
Now onto the wardens being human and I do hope no one gets the sack, but I actually found a cobweb with dust on it in the ladies showers. Totally unheard of in the Caravan Club and it just goes to show we are all human and miss things. It really made me smile. The cobweb I hope will not become controversial.
What a great site.
