Broads base....
We spent a week here in late August and enjoyed, in the main, fine weather. A night of 30 mph winds proved a little distracting but with no undue consequences. This is a good base for both walking and cycling in the area, without the need to drive. The Dog Inn and the Wayfarer Cafe at Ludham Bridge moorings - both only a few hundred yards away - are convenient and friendly. The King's Arms in Ludham is a little further away - but reached by pleasant back lanes - and provides excellent food and ales with good restaurant, bar, and marquee.alternatives. Other and key family / visitor attractions all involve a car journey given distance and route constraints (few bridges over the waterways).
The site is very well-maintained by a friendly set of wardens and is a modern club-site. We used a serviced pitch with new bollards and all worked well throughout and facilitated the use of on-board facilities in preference to the site showers, etc. The now standard Covid-19 precautions are in place and work as well as possible given the design of facilities and varying attitudes of some users.
We had a variety of neighbours over the period and all were quite fine. Their dogs were well-behaved (unlike some mentioned in other reviews and elsewhere on the site during our stay). I do recognise the frustrations with younger children 'running wild' all round the site and, especially, on the roadways used by them for races as observed by ourselves and others here. Certainly an area for attention by negligent parents as well as the Club. Hopefully, the inevitable accidents will be attributed to poor parental supervision rather than seeking to blame either the driver involved or the wardens.
In summary: a good and well-managed base for exploring the area. Best visited, perhaps, outside of the school holidays for enhanced relaxation on pitches!
