A perfect Site
We stayed for 4 nights at the end of May and it has been a pleasure to visit this area and stay at this site. The wardens clearly know the area well and the information provided (verbally & visually through signs on the site) was outstanding. And they carry out their jobs to a very high standard of commitment. Impressive. Such a simple thing to share local bus details / local walks, etc - but so important if you want to get the most out of a visit. We visited St Benet's Abbey and we also walked in the other direction and found a large house with beautiful gardens and a small shop selling ice-creams - all flat walking and you follow the Broad - walking alongside but not on the towpath. We were lucky with the weather but I believe the area would be a joy to visit in any weather. We took the bus to Norwich (who knew how beautiful Norwich was!?) and you really need the day to explore that - the bus stops in the layby just outside the site and the journey is about an hour there and a little over coming back but the views across the countryside on the way is just stunning. There is also a small shop at Ludham Bridge. Quite well stocked. We had a pizza from the visiting van on-site (I can highly recommend that - but book because they sell out - we had the last 2! Lucky). There is also an ice-cream van that visits the site. That was an absolute joy - if you are of a certain age (childhood in the 70's...) then I can guarantee you will still get exited when you hear the music... and the ice-cream was real ice-cream...just beautiful. We actually didn't want to leave and that rarely happens. Thankyou CMC! We are looking forward to returning.
