Not a good location for motorhomes out of season
Nice friendly warden greeted us on arrival. Given a map showing the very few hardstanding pitches still available. All but 1 of those (which had been taken by people before us) were on the mustang area. Unfortunately these pictures are near the road and the cattlegrid so every morning we were disturbed very early from the traffic noise.
Fish and chip van 3 nights a week and the gin bar was popular. Vendors of fish and chip van miscalculated quantities required. Haddock sold out and the chicken breast was also sold out fairly soon during their visit, I opted for cod, which was quite small and came served with a lemon slice and a long auburn (orange/brown) hair, found halfway through eating my meal. So was not impressed
Site was tidy and toilet block nice and clean
There is a bus stop outside camp gates but buses only run through the season so no transport to get around as we did not take our bikes. There are bikes for hire but seemed expensive. Nice steady walk to nearest village offering a few shops and cafe for refreshments.
Many horses and cows roaming loose just passed cattlegrid and the non club site just up the road had shop plus hot food and drink available (closed Monday and Tuesday during September) with nice walks through the surrounding forest.
Things to do in the area were very limited with no transport so I would not recommend this site for motorhomers.
Bins by the entrance only is a problem. Others I spoke to were not impressed with it either and recycling was not a priority, everything in 1 bag and taken to skip on departure seemed the norm.
This is a nice site and in a nice location but is not on our list for a return visit
