Remote and Peaceful

The wardens were friendly on arrival and we quickly set up while being watched from the hedges. There were dozens of wild rabbits enjoying the facilities too! The majority of the pitches were grass, which were being churned up because of the bad weather. There were two shower blocks on site and they were old but more than adequate for our needs. When we arrived the poor Wardens were having to cope with some of the electric posts not working due to a lightening strike frying the underground cables, and were therefore having to deal with a busy site with limited pitches out of action therefore. The beach was literally a stones throw away and we were able to dig bait and cast a line in to try our luck! Although quite remote, there was Mull of Galloway which is the southern most point of Scotland, which was a must visit. There were also two more lighthouses to visit along the West coast and we were able to walk/climb down to the sea from these. Stranraer is only about 20 minutes drive away where there is a Tesco Extra store and lovely fish and chip shop, amongst other stores to visit. The only issues we had with this site, which was in no way at the fault of the wardens or the club, was that the approach road to the site was extremely muddy, made as such from the local farmers and their tractors. So take care when travelling here. Also, some of the other members using the site do not seem to know what 5mph is and were constantly driving very fast around the site and some were not adhering to the one way systems. This is very dangerous especially during peak season when there are more children playing around the site. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, although having done it once we probably won't be returning as there is so much more of the UK to see.
