On the beach - almost

This is a joy - a long way from anywhere, and with terrific views over the bay. We spent three days here, never been able to pitch so close to a beach before. Generally the pitches are very roomy, some are quite a walk from the service points. There is good walking to be had from the site, though an amount of road content is necessary – we spent the whole of one day walking over to Logan Botanic Garden (well recommended) and back. We also included Port Logan on this circuit, which we found disappointing as the both the pub and the Fish Ponds were closed and had been for some time, which left, well, nothing much. Didn’t visit Stranraer, but did drive down to Drummore which we found to be a trifle eccentric in a good way, and also to Port Patrick which has got pubs, two or three shops and a rather good café. There was also a mobile chippy on the quay. Parking a motorhome was no problem at either of these places.
