Lovely location but exposed
Lovely location, right on the shoreline. Toilet facilities very clean and the whole site very well maintained. Friendly staff.
Apart from Logan Botanic Gardens, there's zero "to do" in the area; 5 miles to Drummore and the single shop, or ten miles to Stranraer, which is a town in decline since the ferry terminal moved.
But it's an exposed spot, and the ground is sandy soil on top of pebbles; effectively an old part of the beach. This means it's really hard to get pegs into the ground, and when they do go in they don't stay, Combined with the exposed site, this means any awnings take a real pounding.
Note that there is very little sand on the beach, its mostly pebble. The beach a few miles away at Port Logan is much better (for dog walking, anyway).
In summary, it's a nice site but the location isn't the best.
