Full, but not overcrowded
This is our "go to" site for our main (usually only) holiday, so know what to expect in terms of location and places to go etc. We know the layout and pitches and have our favourites (the quieter ones at the back, not lined up on the front row).
This year was a bit different in that the site was full, so there was less choice of pitch. But that didn't matter - the site is long and sprawly, so never felt overcrowded.
Yes, there were lots of families with children enjoying the beach and what looked like cold sea, but they were never a nuisance.
It's mainly grass - but well drained and hard (lots of tapping of awning pegs). It can be windy, and while we were there there was a terrific overnight storm. But the pitches at the back are more sheltered.
There's no nearby shop, but the village store in Drummore is only 4 miles away and sells everything. Stranraer, a bit farther away (12/13 miles) has a Lidl on the outskirts and a large Morrisons.
I can't comment on the facilities as we have never used them, but they were cleaned twice a day and the service points were regularly sprayed and cleaned etc.
And as ever, the staff were unobtrusive, friendly and helpful.
Only slight negative (and some people may disagree) - where have all the rabbits gone?
