Upper or lower!!!

A site with two levels so take your pick. Access to site is via the upper level and were greeted by smiling, helpful and attentive wardens in the small reception office. This site has a lot going for it but hindered by a lack of development due, I understand to the site being leased from either Winchester City Council or Hants CC. Either way with an uncertain future there has been little investment in the infrastructure of this site. the wardens do a magnificent job keeping it neat, tidy and well maintained despite all this. As a result the buildings are somewhat dated and drab but cleanliness is the key feature so don't let the outside put you off. Loads of amenities close by with buses serving the site close by, certainly within a short walk. there are no hardstanding pitches so weather can play a part in the holiday but the site does drain fairly quickly after rain. Noise from the adjacent busy road can be an issue for those on the upper site where we stayed so I cannot comment for the lower site. The 'fish and chips' as sampled by the mobile hippie on site were superb so a 'not to be missed' treat. Get in there early as your favourite fish might run out!!! Overall a site for the Winchester visitors and those who don't mind noise and like to relax on grass pitches. Give it a go as we did and we were not disappointed.
